L3Harris’ Communication Systems segment is currently seeking a Manufacturing Engineering Lead to join our team. This position will be based at our Tempe, AZ facility.
Position Overview:
This person will contribute to the company’s success by the timely new process development and supporting implementation of new processes into production, resulting in cost-savings associated with reduced tool down time, improved component level yield, and/or enhanced product performance. This role will report directly to the Operations Engineering Senior Manager and is responsible for successfully providing subject matter guidance and/or lead a team on multiple processes and techniques to improve bare tube and component yields.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Emphasis will be in improvement of component performance, implementing manufacturing best practices, and developing optimized process recipes and methodologies.
- Performs a variety of engineering work in the development, improvement, and optimization of multiple processes and techniques utilized in the manufacture of image intensifier tubes, including vacuum deposition of inorganic and metallic films, glass processing, chemical etching and handling, materials analysis, and characterization.
Required (Basic) Qualifications:
- Requires comprehensive level knowledge of job area. May have in-depth knowledge of project management. Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 9 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior related experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Expertise in different surface engineering for metals, adhesives, and sealing.
- Particulate material characterization / modification, consolidation, sintering, and post-sintering treatment.
- Fabrication methods such as forging, casting, extrusion, powder metallurgy, metal and ceramic injection molding, powder forging, powder extrusion, infiltration, machining, tape casting, wire forming, slip casting, rapid prototyping, hot isostatic pressing, and cold isostatic pressing.
- Heat treatment of different metal alloys.
