Job Description:
Responsibilities include providing leadership and guidance to a team of Engineers in support of Harris’s business objectives.
Essential Functions:
A Group Leader is required to perform the following department leadership tasks and activities:
- Manpower planning and forecasting
- Job and task assignments
- Establishing group and individual objectives, and providing regular, constructive feedback
- Employee Engagement
- Staff development, training, and mentoring
- Recruiting and retaining a high performing diverse workforce
- Develop Software Estimates
- Provide support for Cost Accounting including analyzing variance reports and Estimates to Complete
- Expense and capital budgeting / management
- Prepare for and participate in AS9100D and CMMI audits
- Safety and workplace environment management
The Group Leader will perform performance reviews of staff engineers and will be responsible for determining and justifying merit increases, grade level advancements, rewards, and for implementing individual improvement plans as required. An effective Group Leader will ensure regular communication with group members and management, resulting in an environment that fosters open dialog and high employee engagement.
In addition to the above responsibilities, the group leader will act in a task lead or technical lead role for critical programs within the division. This role encompasses Software leadership for the project, financial leadership for the project with budget and schedule responsibility within the department and significant customer technical interface.
In addition to GL responsibilities, this role is also responsible for the following Software Configuration Management tasks and activities:
- Provide guidance to software organization regarding all aspects of the software development life cycle and the corresponding tool chain
- Coordinate all aspects of Software Configuration Management (SCM) including, but not limited to:
- Managing the Agile work flow in Atlassian Jira for SCM task tracking and prioritization for each Direct Report
- Ensuring the team’s adherence and compliance to SCM processes for planning, configuration identification, status accounting and change management
- Working with Software Task Leads and Project Engineers to ensure all Project cost and schedule requirements are met as they relate to software, firmware and document releases and Customer shipments
- Participating in SCM related Software Quality Assurance audits
- Providing guidance on the SCM related tool chain (PTC Integrity, Atlassian Jira and Bitbucket, Cloudbees Jenkins) to ensure all are being administered adequately by Direct Reports
- Providing SCM related inputs to Proposal efforts
- IT POC for all software related tasks such as software purchases, maintenance renewals and installations, network expansions, and ticket closures
Qualifications:
- BS in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering or another related field and 9 years experience or Master's and 7 years experience.
- Prior experience managing program efforts including budget and scheduling of activities.
- Prior experience with software development life cycle.
- Secret Clearance
