As an Electrical Component Engineer, you are part of the Hardware Engineering Team that monitors and ensures the manufacturing health of both new and legacy products. These products contain a variety of electronic components including digital, RF and power. Responsibilities include monitoring and coordinating appropriate actions if components are in jeopardy; EOLs, supply chain disruptions, sole sources, cost escalations, etc. The role involves researching component health using industry tools such as IHS, organizing & leading internal cross functional meetings associated with component issues, driving obsolescence issues to closure, generating engineering change notices, and interfacing with component & contract manufacturing vendors.
Essential Functions:
- Research alternate sources for components in new designs
- Research alternate sources for EOL Components
- Life Cycle Management for product families
- Monitor health status of components and BOM's
- Support the corporate Diminishing Manufacturing Sources and Material Shortages (DMSMS) Team
- Create specification sheets of new components
- Order samples for new design efforts and alternate source evaluations
- Research and assist in dispositioning Pre-Delivery Variances (PDVs) and Defective Material Disposition Reports (DMDRs)
- Research and resolve obsolete component issues for internal and external customers
- Assist purchasing and outside customers to locate hard to find components to avoid production gaps
- Generate Engineering Change Notices
- Manage and Coordinate lifetime component purchase efforts
- Analyze Bill-of-Materials to identify obsolete component issues for various customers
- Ability to work in a team environment and possess good interpersonal and communications skills.
- Self-motivated to identify issues and provide solutions through problem solving skills.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Technology or equivalent, plus a minimum of 6 years in related electronic industry experience (aerospace, medical, automotive or equivalent)
- U.S. Citizenship required.
