Job Description: Elementary Summer Camp Teacher (3pm-6pm)
Position Title: Elementary Summer Camp Teacher
Hours: 3:00 PM - 6:00 PM, Monday to Friday
Reports To: Executive Director
Position Summary:
We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Elementary Summer Camp Teacher to join our team for the afternoon shift. The ideal candidate will create a fun, engaging, and educational environment for elementary-aged children during our summer camp program. This role involves planning and leading activities, ensuring the safety and well-being of campers, and fostering a positive and inclusive atmosphere.
Key Responsibilities:
- Activity Planning and Implementation:
- Develop and execute a variety of educational and recreational activities suitable for elementary-aged children.
- Plan activities that promote creativity, physical activity, teamwork, and personal growth.
- Adapt activities to meet the needs and interests of all campers, including those with special needs.
- Supervision and Safety:
- Maintain a safe and inclusive environment for all campers.
- Supervise campers during activities, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.
- Implement camp rules and policies, addressing any behavioral issues in a positive and constructive manner.
- Camper Engagement:
- Foster a positive and encouraging atmosphere that supports camper engagement and participation.
- Build rapport with campers, encouraging them to try new activities and develop new skills.
- Address any camper concerns or conflicts promptly and effectively.
- Communication:
- Communicate regularly with the Camp Director and other staff members regarding camper progress and any issues that arise.
- Provide feedback to parents or guardians as needed, ensuring they are informed about their child's camp experience.
- Team Collaboration:
- Work collaboratively with other camp staff to ensure a cohesive and supportive team environment.
- Participate in staff meetings and training sessions as required.
- Assist with set-up and clean-up of activities and camp areas.
Qualifications:
- Experience working with elementary-aged children in an educational or recreational setting.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to create a positive and inclusive environment for all campers.
- First Aid and CPR certification (preferred).
- Background in education, child development, recreation, or a related field (preferred).
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to engage in physical activities, including standing, walking, running, and participating in sports or games.
- Ability to lift and carry supplies and equipment up to 25 pounds.
Compensation: $16-$18 per hour
