The Pharmacy Technician plays an integral role in supporting the prescription process under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist and in support of the La Clinica care teams to provide stellar customer service to our community.


Accountabilities Include
:

Performs Essential Job Duties

  • Receiving and verifying the accuracy and authenticity of prescriptions and refill requests from patients.
  • Verifying patient information while maintaining confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Supports the Pharmacist in daily operations of the pharmacy
  • Disburses completed and confirmed prescriptions to patients.
  • Answers incoming calls and fields patient questions within scope of practice.
  • Calculating the price of prescriptions by processing different insurances and payment options (governmental, commercial, prescription cards, self-pay).
  • Triage and prioritize requests based on needs in fast-paced environment.
  • Fills prescription in compliance with all applicable state laws and policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for accurately counting, pouring, or measuring and affixing labels permanently to containers
  • Assist the pharmacist by coordinating workflow functions and workstations for smooth coverage and patient service.
  • Accountable for day-to-day compliance with the 340B Program and is a liaison for all third-party vendors.
    • Ensuring policy and procedures are developed, implemented, and maintained according to organizational, regional, national, state, and federal requirements.
    • Functions at the task level maintaining data bases, approving drug orders, and assuring compliant documentation in both the department and the electronic health record.
    • Ensures appropriate safeguards and system integrity are in place.
    • Responsible for ensuring HRSA 340B OPAIS is accurate, and recertification is completed annually by working with primary contact and authorizing official.
    • Completes self-auditing procedures and annual audits and will coordinate remediation of any findings.
  • Maintains inventory control procedures, assisting in ordering products from appropriate sources, preparing the pharmacy for physical inventory, accepting pharmacy returns and managing pharmacy stock for recalled, outdated, and over stocked products.
  • Processing non-controlled drug orders, including check-in when required.
  • Ordering vials, bottles, bags, and supplies for pharmacy.
  • Assist pharmacist with opening and closing procedures in accordance with state and federal laws
  • Maintains infection control policies and procedures
  • Adheres to all safety practices to ensure patient safety.

Additional Duties:

  • Performs other job duties, as assigned.
  • Completes assigned training via La Clinicals learning module system (Relias) by required due date.

Qualifications
:

Must be able to interact with a variety of individuals at various levels under stressful circumstances while exercising sound judgement, tact, and diplomacy; work productively both independently and in a team setting; communicate with clarity, both verbally and in writing to groups and individuals.


Education and/or Experience
:

Required:

  • Minimum: Active Oregon Pharmacy Technician License/Certification
  • Minimum of 2-5 years of pharmacy technician experience required.
  • Current registration as a Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPht)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of retail pharmacy pricing, inventory, and billing systems.
  • Must have excellent process improvement skills and be able to understand health center functions, operations, and organizational culture.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills, including communication skills, critical thinking skills, meticulous documentation skills, the ability to handle stressful situations, and the capacity to function independently.
  • Various industry experience, such as managed care, ACOs, PBMs and risk bearing entities is strongly preferred.
  • Ability to earn the trust and develop strong relationships with others, internally and externally.
  • Solid understanding of information technology and ability to organize, analyze and synthesize complex data from various sources.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours to meet the organization’s needs/demands.
  • Skills to intervene and promote reconciliation, compromise, and positive outcomes in difficult interactions.
  • Skilled at using electronic health records as applicable to area of work (EPIC).

Preferred:

  • 340B Drug Pricing Program Knowledge (340B) knowledge
  • Experience in a community clinic setting preferred.
  • Prior experience working with Federally Qualified Health Centers.
  • Completed Apexus 340B University and obtained certification


Language Skills
:

Must have the ability to communicate with clarity, both verbally and in writing; read, analyze, and interpret complex documents, regulations, policies, and procedure manuals; and create professional business documents. Preferred bilingual English/Spanish.
