Job Summary:
The Lead Teacher will be assigned to a specific classroom. Responsible for curriculum implementation which includes lesson planning and child assessment. Plans and implements activities designed to promote the social, physical and intellectual growth of the children under her/his care. Keeps parents informed of the progress of their child on a daily basis. May be assisted in the classroom by a Teacher or Assistant Teacher.
Will be expected to close and/or open assigned classroom.

Essential Functions/Job Duties & Responsibilities:

 Helps a class of children learn in a manner consistent with the philosophy and goals of the Company and School. o Treats each child with dignity and respect. o Recognizes and considers the background, disabilities, special talents and interests, style and pace of learning of each child. o Helps children learn to think creatively, to solve problems independently, and to respect themselves and others.

 Responsible for implementation of the Company provided curriculum which includes instruction in ten learning domains and ensures children are taught to read and write in the English language.

 Prepare and implement weekly lesson plans for the assigned age group that will encourage each child's growth in the areas of emotional, social, cognitive and physical development utilizing age appropriate curriculum.

 Understands and applies child development principles; provides developmentally appropriate activities.

 Understands the School Readiness Pathway and can articulate research-based learning outcomes up and down the School Readiness Pathway.

 Ensures Documentation of Learning (DOL) is current and presented throughout the classroom.

 Responsible for classroom arrangement and learning environment.

 Keeps educational materials, equipment and the general room environment neat, safe, clean and tour ready at all times.

 Interacts with children on the playground/classroom taking part in activities that include bending, stooping, jumping and other physical activities as indicated under the physical requirements section.

 Conducts regular observations and assessments to plan customized weekly lesson plans that reflect the needs and interests of children in the class.

 Enters observation data into assessment tool at least twice a month.

 Utilizes digital technologies to communicate learning progress with parents and to drive intentional lesson planning.

 Establishes and maintains a safe and healthy learning environment. Works to prevent injuries and accidents; follows all procedures related to injuries and accidents if one should occur. Report child injuries or hazards promptly to the Director or a member of management.

 Implements and follows proper supervision techniques as required by the company and licensing.

 Guide children in a positive manner displaying warm, friendly, affectionate, enthusiastic and caring behaviors.

 Leads conferences with parents twice a year per the school calendar. Provides daily written/oral feedback to parents.

 Provide exceptional customer service to the families and children we serve. This includes maintaining strict confidentiality regarding children and families.

 Greet every family, child and visitor who enters the school/classroom with a warm and sincere welcome. Assist parents at drop off and pick up times. Acknowledge all departing families, children and visitors with a farewell.

 Respond to all questions and requests in friendly and timely manner.

 Is able to showcase classroom to prospective parents.

 Required to attend all staff training sessions, meetings and programs as requested by the Director and as sponsored by the School.

 Participates in QRIS or accreditation goals and performs the associated classroom requirements to meet those goals, if applicable.

 Role models to children and other staff members appropriate conduct.

 Reports suspected child abuse or neglect to local child protective agency or child abuse hotline as mandated by state law.

 Expected to close and/or open assigned classroom.

 Regular attendance is required.

 Models effective teaching practices for other teachers.

 Performs other duties as requested by school management.

Supervision:

 No direct reports.

Education/Experience:
Required:

 Must meet state licensing requirements for education and experience.

 Must meet all standards and requirements as it relates to education and experience as set forth by the state and accreditation agent.

 Must be teacher qualified

 At least two (2) years of experience in a licensed childcare center.
Preferred:

 Degree in early childhood development or similar preferred.

Certification/Licensure:

 Must meet state licensing requirements.

 CDA preferred

 If applicable, must maintain required units, certifications etc., as required by the state and Company.

Skills & Abilities (i.e. technical, organizations, knowledge, etc.):

 Must be able to perform, with or without reasonable accommodation, all essential functions of the job.

 Excellent customer service skills.

 Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

 Must have knowledge and understanding of all current state and local regulations.

 Must be able to communicate with children, parents and staff using the English language.

For the most part ambient room temperatures, lighting and traditional office equipment as found in a typical office environment.
