The Infection Control Coordinator coordinates, facilitates, implements and participates in quality improvement initiatives/teams across Northwest Health La Porte/Starke in assigned geographical areas. Develops process improvement plans with leadership and departments throughout the organization to analyze, monitor, and ensure high levels of quality and performance. Identifies opportunities for improvement, makes recommendations for change, and leads the implementation of best practices to meet established goals. Promotes cross-departmental communication, collaboration, and performance improvement as a means of achieving cost-effective, high quality care.
Education:
- ASN required. BSN preferred
Certifications/Experience:
- Previous acute care clinical experience required. Quality and/or Performance Improvement Experience preferred
- RN license required
General Responsibilities:
- Performs duties assigned as established by Hospital policy. Functions within the limits of the applicable state Nurse Practice Act.
- Supports medical record and data review and analysis for all external reporting bodies and for tracking and trending purposes internally
- Leads and supports all organizational survey readiness activities to promote continuous survey readiness including both hospital onsite and off site locations
- Promotion of collaborative relationships with medical staff, nursing leadership, and ancillary department leaders to drive department Quality/Risk/Infection Prevention initiatives.
- Provides observation, education, and surveillance activity in clinical departments for patient safety and quality related data collection and initiatives
- Performs concurrent review for Quality/Risk Management/Infection Prevention Improvement initiatives, tracking, and trending
- Reports deficiencies to immediate supervisor. Prepares reports for Director of Quality/CQO.
- Other duties as assigned include but are not limited to Performance Improvement activities, Infection Control Surveillance or other duties as needed.
