Job Summary:
La Rabida is currently recruiting a full-time Social Worker to join our Patient Care Administration unit in Chicago, IL. We are a small children’s acute care hospital focused on treating complex medical conditions, chronic illnesses, developmental disabilities, and abuse and trauma.
Inpatient Social Work provides direct and indirect services to patients and families. They assess the psychological needs and utilize interventions to enhance patient and family functioning and emotional well-being. The core functions of social work include: assisting patients and families through their adjustment to illness, hospitalization, transitions to home and protective services for children and families at risk; assisting patients and families with understanding and adhering to treatment plans; and linkage to community agencies and services.
Essential Social Worker (Inpatient) Functions:

Develops relationships with families that are caring, trusting, reliable, and beneficial. Utilizes these relationships for the patient's well-being and treatment

Provides timely and effective intervention for families in emergency/crisis situations.

Identifies assesses, and responds to child/family needs; includes in this process age-specific developmental needs, psychosocial needs, cultural needs, and spiritual needs.

Conducts comprehensive diagnostic psychosocial assessments of patient and family to determine needs, barriers to care, and coping strategies.
What we need from you:

LSW or LCSW in state of Illinois required

Master’s Degree in Social Work required

5 years-experience in clinical social work in pediatrics preferred

Excellent knowledge of child welfare and other state agency programs
