What are the responsibilities and job description for the Manager, IT position at LabCentral?

LabCentral is seeking an IT Manger reporting to the CFO. This role requires organizational skills, strategic thinking, high-level of customer support and people management, and ability to troubleshoot IT network issues. 

 You’ll be a strong fit for this role if you have certification or an educational background in computer science or an information systems field and 5-7 years of relevant IT experience. 

 RESPONSIBILITIES 

Your day-to-day will include some recurring tasks, as well as responding to in-the-moment needs. Every day is different, so flexibility and responsiveness are key! 

Some examples of how you can expect to spend your time include: 

  • Tier I and II support for clients and employees 
  • Tier I: Helpdesk support, basic usage assistance, solving common hardware and software problems 
  • Tier II: Advanced helpdesk support, in-depth technical solutions to common and uncommon hardware/software problems. Technical guidance for avoidance of the same problem in the future 
  • People Management 
  • Ensure IT Team is following through with delegated tasks, following up with clients, and closing loops 
  • Helping to facilitate their technical knowledge through on-the-job and formal training 
  • Encouraging outside education as much as possible to stay up to date with latest technologies and trends 
  • Being a resource and a mentor 
  • Update and maintain our systems and data 
  • Create and maintain the inter-app and cross-app relationships 
  • Upgrade or build new applications as needed to solve business problems proactively 
  • Support third party system upgrades and updates 
  • Maintain third party API connections through products like Zapier 
  • Maintain infrastructure like network switches, WiFi, firewalls, and other systems 
  • Manage a full suite of enterprise L2/L3 switches 
  • Monitor WiFi utilization and proactively make adjustments to maintain sufficient speed and bandwidth 
  • Update and maintain multiple routers and servers performing DHCP, DNS, and firewalling among other functions 
  • Maintain business critical site-to-site IPSec VPN’s 
  • Update firewall rules, ACLs, and review logs as needed 
  • Assist with projects that may cross departmental lines 
  • Technical solutions for project management, purchasing, and financial systems 
  • Security 
  • Oversee the technical aspects of physical and logical security of the building, via on-site camera system and on-prem access control system 

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND TECHNICAL SKILLS 

  • Comfort with networking technology and 5-7 years of experience in a similar role 
  • Familiarity with using and troubleshooting Microsoft 365 Suite and Apple products 
  • Experience with scripting languages like Python and using REST APIs 
  • Several years managing and developing direct reports 
  • Ability to lift and carry a minimum of 25 pounds
