The Integrated Genetics Division is seeking a Cytogenetics Operations Assistant/Technologist to join their Cytogenetics team in Raleigh/Durham, NC! Assays performed in the Cytogenetics Department utilize a variety of scientific techniques, including specimen culturing, slide preparation, and chromosome analysis. In this position you will work in a fast paced, customer focused, and
challenging environment, and will be a part of our overall mission at LabCorp: "Improving Health, Improving Lives".
The work schedule for this position will be Tuesday-Saturday 12:00pm-8:30pm.
Responsibilities:
- Tracking and receiving samples in lab's computer systems.
- Media and Reagent preparation.
- Assisting lab staff with organizing and filing quality control documentation.
- Monitoring lists of samples pending testing and notifying appropriate testing staff.
- Corresponding with other laboratory support groups to resolve client inquiries and concerns.
- Reviewing test orders prior to specimen processing to ensure sample type is appropriate and all necessary information is included. This includes identifying mis-orders and contacting clients to obtain information necessary to complete testing performed at CMBP.
- Loading and managing case output on 81 slide loaders.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent (AA degree preferred).
- Excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills.
- Strong computer skills and working knowledge of programs such as Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel.
- Previous specimen handling preferred.
