Specimen Accessioner
Job Summary
Prepares laboratory specimens for designated departments/locations prior to laboratory analysis and testing. Unpacks specimens from clients and other LabCorp branches and routes specimens by type to various staging areas. Enters tests requested into the laboratory information system. This a 3rd shift Tuesday-Saturday 11:00pm-7:30am
Responsibilities
- Receive and properly identifies specimen packages.
- Assist in Inbound Tracking and/or SRS/SIS.
- Open packages and sort specimens according to the department standards.
- Pack and ship specimens using appropriate couriers and databases.
- Perform initial data entry and QC specimens according to department processes on all specimen types.
- Sort and separate paperwork for document imaging.
- Notify Team Leads/Supervisors/designees of missing specimens.
- Participate in searches for missing specimens.
- Complete reconciliation of inbound and outbound shipments.(if applicable)
- Prepare send out tests to appropriate labs.(if applicable)
- Reconcile and ship outbound stain only cases.(if applicable)
- QC and return all client material (block/slides) to clients.(if applicable)
- Gather and dispose or store of all trash.(if applicable)
Administrative Responsibilities
- Ensure all documents are imaged according to department processes.
- Assist with scanner maintenance and cleaning.
- File paperwork and send to storage.(if applicable)
