Take your passion and knowledge of Early Development Research Studies to the next step as a Supervisor of the dynamic DART team! In this position you will be coaching Study Technicians and other members of the team as well as coordinating the daily activities and ensuring the team is meeting deadlines for deliverables. You’ll work closely with your immediate team as well as Study Directors, QA and other teams. In this position you’ll be making a real impact towards improving the lives and wellness of people and animals around the world! Duties include put not limited to:
- Position is responsible for day to day coaching of staff, monitors staff development. Creates individual development plans for staff in cooperation with line managers, implements the Performance Management Process objective setting, assessments, corresponding appraisal interviews, proposal of salary adjustments and of promotions.
- Schedules and coordinates proactively and in conjunction with other groups or departments the daily activities of the group and liaises with other groups, sections and departments.
- Organizes necessary resources for conducting all relevant study or non-study related tasks and participates in the study performance.
- Responsible for direct team meetings study and project deadlines and deliverables
- Plans, organizes and presents information for team meetings, site inspections, study director meetings, and client visits.
- Optimizes existing and develops new techniques, methods for study conduct or non-study specific areas and supports their application
- Responsible for the realization of the probation period process: designation of mentors, monitoring the training phase, regular assessment and appraisal interviews including appropriate documentation.
- Assures appropriate communication within the group, particularly for dissemination of information (i.e. Study progress, Facility procedures, Quality, Health and Safety, Business Updates and any other departmental or company communications)
- Understands and interprets study plans and identifies problems resulting from the study plan or during study conduct and takes appropriate action.
- Optimizes existing and develops new techniques, methods for study conduct or non-study specific areas and supports their application.
- Plans, organizes and participates in meetings (i.e. study start-up meetings, coordination meetings)
- Performs quality controls, assures corrections of errors (incl. documentation) identifies potential problems and optimizes the quality control system.
- Ensures maintenance of instruments and equipment is performed (i.e. maintenance, validation and calibration), ensures that non-performing equipment is removed and may maintain inventory lists and ensures replacement or new purchase on time.
- Responsible for constructive responses to reports and questions from Study Direction, QAU, EH&S, clients or regulatory agencies in a timely manner. Performs corrective actions when needed.
- Provides for safety and welfare of staff and supports/enforces Environmental Health and Safety Policies
- Takes responsibility for certain areas (e.g. laboratory or animal areas, equipment, methods, inventory of supplies, disposal, etc.).
- Reports all animal welfare concerns and becomes involved in the resolution and appropriate corrective action, when necessary.
- Learns Covance cost structure & budget process.
Experience/Education/Qualifications
- Bachelor degree in Life Sciences and/or Associate degree in Laboratory Animal Technology, Veterinary Technology, (along with 6 months to 2 years of related experience)
- Prior leadership experience is preferred but not required
- Highly prefer 2 years of hands on experience with running Early Development (Animal Research) studies.
- Strong communication skills and good knowledge of common software and internal platforms.
