As a key member of the PLM engineering team, the Electrical Engineer is responsible for the engineering activities to support the current product lines in the Laborie Portfolio such as maintaining and improving electrical hardware (including embedded firmware) designs integration of hardware components, assemblies, and procedures for products, design changes, DHF & DMR updates, support to country-specific registration requirements, failure investigations, design transfers, and product obsolescence management.

About The Role
- The Electrical Engineer has a variety of duties and responsibilities that include engineering, as well as other project-related activities:
- Assist in managing the product life cycle of current product lines in the Laborie Portfolio.
- Manage Electrical design processes to ensure timely delivery of design and integration into the production of electrical and PCB designs.
- Assess changes in production and the impact on the design of the product.
- Aid in developing test strategies and executing design verification testing and in the creation of Product and Development Documentation in compliance with Laborie QMS, ISO, and other applicable standards.
- Design, implement, and deliver product changes to support sales, marketing, production, and service.
- Provide technical support and documentation to external manufacturing and supply chain partners, regulatory affairs, customer care, and marketing staff for product support issues and country registration processes.
- Work with management and development teams to establish best practices.
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, or equivalent, and a minimum of 2 years of experience designing hardware and/or firmware for electrical systems.
- Experience in medical device engineering and knowledge of applicable standards/regulations such as GMP, FDA’s QSR (CFR 820), IEC 60601 and/or IEC 62304 EU MDD/EU MDR, and ISO 13485, and understanding of test method verification, validation, and analytical methods.
- Good understanding / Familiarity with engineering concepts including design for excellence, CTQ design and development, and the engineering change process.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to quality and excellent communication skills, collaboration skills, ability to work on multiple projects concurrently, and technical aptitude “hands-on” approach to engineering.
- Medical device experience strongly preferred.
- Experience designing circuit boards for low power battery operated mixed-signal, and medical grade (IEC 60601) applications.
- Experience developing firmware for embedded systems in IDEs such as Keil, IAR preferred.
- C or C language experience.
- Experience collaborating in version-controlled codebase repositories e.g. Git etc.
- Advanced skills with Altium, 3D CAD (SolidWorks), or other CAD tools.
- Lean / Six Sigma training/certifications a plus.
- Injection Molding Experience.
