JOB SUMMARY
The Quality Analytical Specialist is responsible for multiple activities that provides technical assistance to the company where needed; including routine testing (fat using Gerber, total solids using a moisture oven, and protein using the Sprint.) Monitoring the accuracry of our equipment based on the analytical test results. Other functions in this role include: equipment monitoring; preventitive maintenance; completing calibrations; completing evaluations; analysing raw materials, products, and processes; providing facilities support for shipment of quality products.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily:
· Responsible for all aspects of food safety and quality as defined in plant and department procedures.
· Manages the analytical testing and monitoring program as per Lactalis testing standards.
· Coordinates and completes maintenance on all laboratory equipment including preventive maintenance and calibrations.
· Evaluates sample results in real time to determine if results fall within the expected range and troubleshoot testing if not.
· Assists Quality department with coverage as needed.
· Maintains inventory for lab chemistry consumable and alerts area manager if inventory runs low.
· Collects, analyzes, and evaluates samples from each step of yogurt production and approves for use.
· Performs various tests that would include ATP, allergen, fat, protein, microbiology, pH, temperature, total solids.
· Gathers data regarding the status of yogurt production and maintains accurate records.
· Supports Laboratory Manager with other tasks as assigned.
· Performs other duties as assigned.

· Support environmental programs established within the organization to include recycling of all office wastes in accordance with program guidelines, initiate power conservation techniques by turning off lights and computers when not in use.

· Oversee the implementation and adherence to Stonyfield safety practices and programs and hold fellow staff accountable.
· Report any unsafe conditions or practices to management so they may be appropriately addressed.
Schedule and Shift: 8:00am - 5:00pm
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS
· Degree in Life or Food Sciences or appropriate experience in a dairy lab.
· Experience in analytical testing methods such as fat, protein and total solids
· Strong written and verbal communication skills.
· Ability to communicate with all levels of the organization, including the ability to present business information in a group setting.
· Demonstrated team leadership skills.
· Knowledge of Good laboratory practices methods.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
· Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
· Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines within specified time constraints.
· Ability to adapt in a changing work environment.
· Ability to work schedule, overtime, and weekends as needed.
