Quality Control Technician- Lab

The quality control technician position inspects materials and products, such as sheet stock, trailer parts, or components, and finished trailers for conformance to specifications.

What you will do:

Quality control technicians will be involved or responsible for

  1. Measure, analyze and help reduce process variability in the following areas:

  - Green End – flake quality (fines and bark)

  - Dryers – Moisture control

  - Blenders – wax and resin temperature, filtration, and distribution

  - Forming – weight distribution, flake alignment, fines, bunker fill level

  - Press – strand temperature, press temperature, heat transfer, and press recipes

  1. Examines material or product for defects such as tails, cracks, pits, and blows.
  2. Analyzes product samples using scientific tools to ensure APA quality.
  3. Verifies specified dimensions of product or material.
  4. Record relevant process data and perform/record APA dimension and grade checks.
  5. Inspection of finished units in the warehouse, documentation and quarantine of non-conforming products.
  6. Operates diagnostic equipment needed to perform job.
  7. Must be able to fill-in as needed for any Production Team member that is absent.
  8. All other duties that may be assigned by management.

Minimum qualifications that you will need:

  • Eligible to legally work in the United States
  • High education and post-secondary education, preferably wood sciences
  • Willing and able to work a 12-hour rotating schedule which will include nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to work as part of a team and deliver value to the team
  • Willingness and ability to cross-train to learn new jobs and skills
  • Consistent, predictable attendance
