Ultrasound Tech
Department: Radiology Location: Lake Charles, LADESCRIPTION OF POSITION:
- Ultrasound Technologist works closely with all Radiology personnel including the Ultrasound Supervisor, Administrative Director, and Radiologists to perform technical procedures in the department of Radiology to include ultrasound procedures.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- Performs Assessment and Plans Patient Care.
- Controls Costs
- Satisfies Patients/Customers
- Practices Infection Control, Radiation Protection and Safety Management.
- Educates Patient/Family and Provides Age Specific Care For Patients Served
- Practices Professionalism and Information Management
- Protects Patient Rights
- Participates in Performance Improvement

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
- Registered Radiographer with the State of Louisiana as a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer, or certified by an accredited program and registry eligible for Ultrasound.
- Certified by an accredited Ultrasound Program and Registry eligible for Ultrasound, or Licensed as a Radiographer with the State of Louisiana.
- Must maintain required hours of in-service per year to meet requirements for CEU's as stipulated by the Louisiana State Board of Radiology Technologists and American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography
- CPR certification.
- Ability to communicate with patient, family, peers and medical personnel.
- Basic Math Skills
- Requires emotional stability and resilience.
- Must be adaptable to change, able to be decisive under pressure, and demonstrate foresight in crisis management.
- Exhibits organizational and leadership ability. Shows ability to gain and maintain support and respect.
- Ability to concentrate on moderate detail with constant interruption; to understand and relate to specific ideas generally, several at a time, and remember multiple tasks given to self and others over long periods of time.
- Ability to operate various types of radiologic equipment and to utilize the hospital computer system in an efficient and proper manner.
- Ability to adjust routine to accommodate patient or department without affecting departmental flow; perform moderately difficult manipulative skills and hand-eye coordination skills.

- Work requires a variety of physical activities including standing and walking for long periods of time, bending, stooping, and lifting.
- The work environment may be physically confining.
- Must be able to exchange accurate information with patients, family, peers and medical personnel.
