The Manager of IT Infrastructure is responsible for managing all aspects of the IT infrastructure. The role is ideal for a strategic thinker with a passion for managing complex IT infrastructure environments and looking for an exciting opportunity to take on new challenges. The position is a salaried role located in our Waukegan campus, offering the flexibility to work a hybrid remote schedule. This Manager reports to the Chief Information Officer (CIO).
Scope of responsibilities includes IT infrastructure, lifecycle, storage, business continuity, disaster recovery (execute), hardware and end-user support. This key manager ensures the integrity, high availability, and performance of our IT systems/services.
This position will also work closely with the IT Leadership team and decision-makers in other departments in order to implement and support cost-effective technology solutions for all aspects of the organization.
- Manage and monitor all aspects of the IT infrastructure including server environment, storage, backups patching, data & telephony, internet circuits, LAN/WAN/WLAN and data center.
- Ensure the security, integrity and availability of the IT infrastructure by implementing and maintaining security protocols, redundancy, disaster recovery plans and backup systems.
- Manage and oversee the day-to-day operations of the IT infrastructure team, including task delegation, resource allocation and performance management.
- Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOP) for the IT infrastructure team to ensure compliance with organizational policies and directives as well as regulatory (HIPAA and CJIS) and other mandated requirements.
- Work closely with other IT Managers (Service Delivery, Applications, and Tech Solutions) to ensure effective collaboration between groups in the Enterprise IT department.
- Work with other departments to identify and implement technology solutions that improve the efficiency and effectiveness of business processes.
- Collaborate with the Information Security Officer (ISO) to ensure that IT infrastructure is protected against cyber threats and to remediate vulnerabilities as necessary.
- Collaborate with the Chief Technical Officer (CTO) to evaluate and recommend new technology solutions that align with the County’s goals and objectives.
- Manage vendor relationships and negotiate contracts for IT infrastructure-related services and equipment.
- Assist with preparation and management of the IT infrastructure budget, including forecasting and tracking expenses.
- Develop and maintain documentation related to the IT infrastructure, including system configurations, standard operating procedures and disaster recovery plans.
- Demonstrated ability to lead implementation and management of IT systems and solutions.
- Experience improving operational efficiency, availability and reliability across different operations and technology platforms.
- Familiarity with ITIL, ITSM, and related support/service standards.
- Technical and practical experience of how to support infrastructure, cloud services and operations in a diverse environment with multiple departments with differing needs.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of executives, managers, and subject matter experts.

- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent relevant experience) in information technology, computer science, business administration, or a related discipline.
- Candidates should have ten years of progressively responsible experience in technology management, as well as experience with technology implementation, service, and support.
