Under supervision from the Marine Unit Commander, the Clerical Worker performs a variety of data entry and clerical tasks for the Marine Unit.
- Compiles, processes, and maintains accurate electronic files of a variety of information, including, but not limited to watercraft safety inspections, citations, and watercraft crash reports.
- Enters and maintains name files in a computer system.
- Extracts and verifies data from documents prepared by Marine Unit personnel and enters it into a computer system.
- Responds to requests from the State’s Attorney’s Office and other governmental entities.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

- Requires one year of general office experience, including experience using a personal computer and office/record-keeping related software.
- Requires working knowledge of modern office methods, practices, and procedures, including the use of a telephone, photocopier, scanner, printer, and laminator.
- Requires working knowledge of business English, spelling, and commercial arithmetic.
- Requires basic knowledge of law enforcement operations and procedures.
- Requires the ability to type accurately at a working rate of speed.
- Requires the ability to prepare, maintain, and submit as required a variety of files, records, and reports.
- Requires the ability to work independently and efficiently following established guidelines and procedures.
- Requires the ability to adapt to changes and improvements in reporting systems and related software as set forth by the state and by the Sheriff’s Office.

Physical
- Requires the physical ability to sit continuously at a computer terminal for extended periods of time.
- Requires the visual ability sufficient to effectively operate office equipment including, but not limited to, a copier, computer, et cetera and the visual ability to read and write reports, correspondence, and instructions.
- Requires speaking ability sufficient to communicate effectively with other individuals in person and over a telephone.
- The work hours are flexible and negotiable at the start of employment. The Clerical Worker will not exceed 32 hours per week or 1,000 hours per year.
- Since this is a part-time, seasonal employment, no benefits are offered.
