What are the responsibilities and job description for the Solid Waste Monitor position at Lake County?
Lake County Solid Waste is accepting applications for:
Monitor
QUALIFICATIONS: Must possess basic computer skills; the ability to communicate effectively and complete assigned tasks with minimal supervision; and the ability to perform heavy physical labor, work outdoors in all conditions, work well with the public and co-workers, maintain detailed records, and work flexible shifts, including the weekends. Must become knowledgeable in waste characteristics, district waste disposal policies and practices, and recycling policies and practices. Forklift experience is helpful.
DUTIES: Check wastes entering the facility for unacceptable materials; record volume/types of wastes entering; perform physical labor tasks that are often demanding; accept payment of disposal fees and record receipts; direct traffic; operate a telephone, computer, and a 2-way radio; work in the Recycling Center, sorting and baling materials; pick up litter; clean and maintain the appearance of facilities; perform facility maintenance duties; assist customers in proper disposal and/or recycling of materials; visit rural container sites to educate public and enforce waste disposal policies; assist drivers as necessary, and perform other duties as required.
HOURS/DAYS: Varied schedule. Requires weekends.
WAGE: $18.14/hourly - dependent on experience. This is a union covered position.
