REPORTS TO: CREATIVE DIRECTOR

Lake Erie College, a small, co-educational, four-year, independent liberal arts college located in Painesville, OH, 30 miles east of Cleveland, invites applications for the full -time position of communication specialist. The communications specialist will hold the vital role of executing on all digital marketing/public relations content and strategy to help promote the college as a whole. The communication specialist will regularly analyze data in Google Analytics and SEMRush to improve web presence and develop campaigns as needed. Excellent organizational, communication, and customer service skills are necessary to insure goals and deliverables are met in a timely and effective manner. This individual should be self-sufficient, organized, and capable of managing multiple projects at a time.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Develops all written content for marketing and PR needs including but not limited to website, print collateral, advertising, press releases, social media, and SEO, SEM.
· Develops and executes collaboratively with the Marketing/PR team, as well as various constituents across the College, on overall marketing strategy, crisis communication management, and all digital media strategy for advertising / campaign development.
· Works closely with other members of the department and college constituents to ensure projects and needs are executed effectively and on deadline.
· Other responsibilities as assigned by the Creative Director.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
· Degree in Journalism/Communications/Marketing preferred or 4-5 years of experience working for an in-house marketing department with higher education experience a plus.
· Experience with SEO management platforms like SEMRush or MozPro a plus.
· Expertise in AP style and excellent written communication skills.
· Ability to follow creative direction, work with multiple constituents across campus, and respond to feedback professionally.
· Experience with Google Ads and managing short and long-term advertising campaigns, partnering with outside vendors a plus.
