What are the responsibilities and job description for the Junior Squash Assistant Coach position at Lake Forest?
Under the direction of the Lake Forest Recreation Department Squash Pro, the Assistant Squash Coach will play a crucial role in creating a positive and successful athletic experience through coaching, lesson planning and implementing strategies to achieve program goals and player development.
Coaches must stay current with developments in the sport of squash, including coaching techniques, training methodologies, and rule changes, through professional development opportunities such as clinics, workshops, and conferences.
Coaches must have the ability to find transportation to and from lessons, practices and/or other program functions.
- Provide individualized instruction and feedback to players to help them develop proper technique, improve their fitness, and enhance their understanding of the game.
- Teach fundamental and advanced squash techniques, including shot selection, footwork, positioning, and game tactics, both in individual and group settings.
- Foster a positive and supportive team culture by encouraging teamwork, sportsmanship, and dedication among players. Offer emotional support and motivation to help players overcome challenges and reach their full potential.
- Stay current with developments in the sport of squash, including coaching techniques, training methodologies, and rule changes, through professional development opportunities such as clinics, workshops, and conferences.
- Ensure the safety of players during practices and matches by enforcing proper safety protocols and equipment use. Familiarize yourself with relevant rules and regulations governing squash competitions and ensure the team's compliance.
- Maintain open and effective communication channels with the Pro, and players. Provide regular updates on player progress, team activities, and any relevant issues or concerns.
- Serve as a positive role model for players, demonstrating professionalism, integrity, and a passion for the sport of squash.
- Identify areas for improvement within the Squash program section and develop strategies to enhance its quality and impact.
