Job Summary:
The Consumer Lending Underwriter is responsible for assisting members with their consumer lending needs; analyzing loan requests and making credit decisions based on lending policy.
Anticipated Schedule:
- Saturdays, 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
- Mondays, 9:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.
- Additional day at manager/candidate discretion, 9:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.
***This position has the potential for a hybrid work schedule once fully trained and performing well.***
Responsibilities:
- Interviews customer loan applicants to develop information concerning their loan needs, earnings, and financial condition.
- Analyzes current financial position of customers to determine the degree of risk involved in extending credit or lending money. Makes decision to approve, disapprove, or forward the loan request to higher levels for decision.
- Explains loan programs to customers, evaluates their needs and recommends loan options.
- Establishes the terms and conditions of an approved loan and reviews them with the member.
- Prepares and/or reviews all loan documents for completeness and accuracy..
- Authorize release of collateral on existing loans, changes in loan terms, waivers of payments, due date change, etc.
- Participates in sales development activities.
- Follows current loans to ensure compliance with terms and coordinates with collections.
- Keeps informed of current trends in consumer credit.
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Three to five years of similar or related experience.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
