Elementary ASD Program Teacher

2024-2025 School Year

Qualifications:

• Must hold valid Michigan Teaching Certificate (Elementary preferred)
• Endorsement in one or more areas of Special Education
• ASD (SV) endorsement or willingness to enroll in program to obtain ASD endorsement/ Temporary Approval (MDE special education tuition grant assistance may be available to qualified applicants)
• Knowledge of the Common Core and Common Core Essential Elements learning standards and curriculum resources
• Experience and skills related to the implementation of evidence-based instructional practices and strategies/ supports for students with significant disabiltiies
• Proficiency in development of IEPs, REEDs, FBAs, and Positive Behavior Support Plans (PBSPs)
• Experience and ability to serve as a member of the Multi-disciplinary Evaluation Team (MET)
• Knowledge of formative assessment, behavioral data collection/ analysis, positive behavior supports and interventions, curriculum supports, accommodations and modifications, and communication strategies 
• Knowledge of use of AAC/ Assistive Technology to support students' communication and learning needs and to enhance access to the general education curriculum and environment
• Exceptional collaborative communication skills with parents, teachers, ancillary staff and paraprofessionals 
• Ability to provide classroom leadership and ongoing guidance/ coaching/ training/ feedback to paraprofessionals 

• Ability to contribute to effective collaborative teamwork within the program/ building

• Commitment to educating students in the Least Restrictive Environment (LRE) and promoting an inclusive education/ school environment
