Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field preferred.
  • Two (2) years of human resources experience preferred.
  • Experience and training which provide the following abilities, skills and knowledge:
    • Experience/skills with computer and computer software programs, such as Adobe Suite, Microsoft Office Suite, human resource management systems, applicant tracking systems, etc.
    • Ability to initiate and efficiently complete tasks with self-direction in a timely manner
    • Ability to review employee contract language and apply to human resource policy and practice.
    • Knowledge of employee compensation processes and ability to work in coordination with payroll.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others.
  • Demonstrated ability to resolve job-related issues.
  • Collaborative and positive attitude.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely in both oral and written forms
  • Ability to perform duties with awareness and in accordance with the districts policies and applicable laws
  • Ability to handle confidential information with sensitivity.
  • Must be able to physically perform job duties
  • Regular and consistent attendance is expected
  • Ability to maintain composure and work effectively during high pressure/stressful situations
  • Must be a positive representative for Lake Orion Community Schools


Job Duties (Including but not limited to):

  • Assist Assistant Superintendent of HR in daily administrative activities, including but not limited to the topics of recruitment, training and development, contract administration, onboarding, performance management, payroll and time reporting, HR compliance, and policies.
  • Interpret and explain policies, procedures, laws, standards, or regulations.
  • Collaborate with building and district administrative staff in the clarification of contract language and personnel issues for support staff positions.
  • Assist in the hiring process by developing postings, advertising, and responding to inquiries for positions.
  • Assist with on-boarding new hires including processing hiring related paperwork.
  • Maintain electronic personnel files.
  • Manage all aspects of the HRIS system, including accuracy of data, building new fiscal years, and components into system.
  • Coordinates and maintains staff records regarding seniority, longevity, and stipends for all support staff groups.
  • Maintain district background check files and assist with fingerprinting district new hires and volunteers.
  • Maintains documents, files, and records for the purposes of providing up-to-date reference and audit trail for compliance.
  • Approve district subs, and all other outsourced positions once background checks are cleared.
  • Manage district absence management/time and attendance system.
  • Act as HR point of contact for all support staff (union and at will employees).
  • Participate in support staff union negotiations and labor management meetings.
  • Serve as Workers’ Compensation administrator for the district.
  • Maintain and administer annual trainings for all staff (ALICE, Seclusion and Restraint, Title IX, etc.)
  • Work in conjunction with district nurses for purposes of tracking and report infectious diseases to the Oakland County Health Division.
  • Serve as resource for staff and community members for the district and Human Resources Department.
  • Performs other duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective function of the Human Resources department.
