What are the responsibilities and job description for the Swim Instructor position at Lake Orion?
Job Description: Lake Orion High School has exceptional swimming lessons and an Aquatic Program. We are looking for talented people to join us on the deck and in the pool to coach, teach and help us maintain a state-of-the-art aquatic facility for the Lake Orion Community. If you are exceptional in your craft and ready to share your passion for the water with adults and children of all ages and abilities as well as assist in keeping the Lake Orion Natatorium the leading high school program in the area, we invite you to join our team.
As part of the Lake Orion Aquatic staff, you will work directly with the Aquatic Director. We will offer continued American Red Cross certification opportunities and access to the aquatic facility to continue any training and family members access to discounts of pool prices for all aquatic classes.
Prerequisites
- Instructors must be at least 16 years of age or older.
- Water Safety Instructor (W.S.I.) preferred but not required.
- Lifeguard & CPR for the Professional Rescuer preferred but not required.
- Has 2 years' experience instructing preferred.
- Communication skills are good.
- Works well with children, staff, and patrons.
- Enthusiastic about swimming and teaching.
- Positive outlook.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Arrive on time for scheduled staff meetings and classes.
- Report on scheduled swim lesson days 15 minutes prior to the start of class.
- Place/organize all equipment away in storage room.
- File all paperwork in mailboxes.
- Enforce pool rules.
- Wear appropriate attire when teaching.
- Make arrangements for a substitute if there is a conflict with your schedule.
- Have your class together and getting into the water at the scheduled start time and instruct classes to the scheduled end time.
- Keep pool deck free of equipment and the equipment room in neat workable order.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Fulfill desired number of instructor in-service hours when necessary
