Position Summary:

The Medical Assistant is responsible for assisting clinic operations with greeting patients, taking vitals, assisting providers with procedures and tests and miscellaneous tasks. The Medical Assistant is responsible to ensuring patients are seen and cared according to the scope of their training.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

  • MAs are expected to assist all other MAs in building and improving skills in all areas
  • Greets patient warmly upon arrival and/or when rooming patients
  • Stock exam rooms with supplies and maintain inventory
  • Perform CLIA Waived Testing
  • Perform all quality assurance and all quality control processes
  • Maintains medical supplies and cleaning/sterilization of the medical instruments and equipment
  • Prepares specimen samples for laboratory transportation
  • Notes brief history or the reason for visit in the patient's chart
  • Takes and records height, weight, and blood pressure, pulse rate, respiration, temperature and
  • notify provider of unusual changes
  • Takes health and family history
  • Administers treatment, medications and injections as ordered by provider and documents
  • appropriately
  • Prepares and drapes patients for examinations
  • Ensures patients have been properly instructed using approved written instructions, regarding
  • proper preparations for tests/procedures ordered by the provider
  • Assists the provider with the patient examinations, treatment and surgical procedures
  • Completes all charting by the end of each day
  • Adheres to the Medical Assistant's scope of practice at all times
  • Answers phone calls, takes detailed telephone messages and documents all patient
  • communication in patient's chart
  • Responds to patient communications and delivers complete messages to the appropriate
  • individual per practice protocol
  • Files/scans patient charts and records
  • Maintains strict confidentiality; and treats staff, physicians, patients and visitors with respect
  • Performs selected clerical and administrative duties, and assists physicians as part of the care
  • team
  • Adheres to all policies and guidelines outlined in the Employee Handbook
  • All other duties as directed by management.

The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $18 - $25 per hour; however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, licensure, skills, and experience.

The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a sign-on bonus and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered.

Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.

If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.

Requirements:

Education and / or Experience:

  • High school/GED strongly preferred
  • Graduation from an accredited medical assisting program required
  • Ability to read/write in English, and follow written instructions
  • General computer knowledge around navigation and Microsoft tools required (Office, Word,
  • Excel)
  • BLS Certification required within 30 days of employment

Medical Assistant II Education/Experience Requirements:

  • 2-5 years' experience in a medical office setting, and/or CMA certification required

Medical Assistant III Education/Experience Requirements:

  • 5 years' experience in a medical office setting and CMA certification required
  • Primary Care and Specialty Care experience strongly preferred (Endocrinology, Cardiology,
  • Rheumatology, Podiatry, Pediatrics, etc)

Medical Assistant IV Education/Experience Requirements:

  • 8 years' experience in a medical office setting and CMA certification required
  • Primary Care and Specialty Care experience
