Summary

The Supply Chain Manager is responsible for overseeing all Supply Chain related activities involving the procurement of material, inventory planning, optimization and control, external supply assurance, PPV, work order planning, cycle counting, and other material metrics in the spirit of continuous improvement. Creates and owns the material execution plan in support of initiatives created by the department and within budget. This person also provides leadership for optimization projects, material changes, supplier capability, defect reduction, or other projects in support of external supply chain efficiencies.

Within this multi-faceted role, the Supply Chain Manager will be required to work cross-functionally and assess and track developments against key milestones to achieve optimal production buy dates and expected demand-based deliveries. Key partners will include category managers, external delivery providers, finance, and plant operations.

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Create the company’s supply chain strategy and hire, develop, & lead a customer and company-centric team to execute this strategy
  • Conceptualize long-term business goals and develop orderly processes to accomplish those goals
  • Communicate with external suppliers and oversee purchasing activities to develop sourcing strategies in sync with department and company business plans
  • Communicate performance expectations and provide qualitative feedback to supply chain regarding performance of suppliers
  • Performs ad-hoc projects to drive operational efficiency, cost savings, and supply chain optimization
  • Leads audits and utilizes root cause analysis for improvements as needed and to investigate any and all outages or shortages
  • Evaluate and report on KPIs related to material cost, PPV, inventory, and supplier related issues (quality, delays, claims, etc.)
  • Oversee merchandising operations
  • Proactively analyze pricing to communicate and negotiate with suppliers and vendors to obtain quality products at the best possible price
  • Ensure customer satisfaction through processing complaints, responding to inquiries, and providing shipment statuses
  • Find cost-effective solutions for supply chain processes to maintain just-in-time delivery and optimized inventory levels
  • Support team members and adjacent departments in resolving issues that impact project costs and timelines
  • Collaborate with other departments to create coordinated plans for business growth
  • Follow up on critical purchasing orders to ensure delivery and cost objectives are met
  • Provide exceptional client relations by proactively contacting sales team and/or customer service to resolve issues and to improve opportunity success rate
  • Support gross profit goals by negotiating and controlling product costs, lead times, freight term and purchase quantity requirements
  • Maintain and improve existing supplier relationships and initiate potential new supplier relationships
  • Identify sources for product/services in support of customer requests in a timely manner

 

Education, Experience and Ability Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, Accounting, Engineering or related field preferred or comparable experience in Supply Chain Management
  • 5 years directly related experience as a supply chain manager or in a similar role in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience managing, leading, coaching, and developing multi-faceted, cross-functional teams
  • Excellent knowledge of supply chain processes
  • Significant Excel experience (pivot tables, charts, etc.) required, Tableau, PowerBI, Access reporting skills a plus; ERP experience preferred
  • Strong cross-functional project management capabilities
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Suite of Products
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work and communicate with various levels within the organization, including members of the executive leadership team
  • Ability to display a high level of initiative, effort, and commitment towards completing assignments in a timely manner
  • Creative problem-solving ability and a strategic, analytical mind
  • Self-motivated with acute attention to detail, and the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
  • Flexibility to work scheduled hours and extra hours as required, on site and remote, as needed
  • Manage the demand planning deliverables to ensure integrity, applicability and comprehensiveness of the demand plan, while reducing risk to the business and customer
  • Create external supply operational strategies for the defined categories

 

Physical Demands

  • Light work that includes occasionally moving objects up to 40 pounds
  • Ability to travel occasionally up to 4 hours from headquarters
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
