What are the responsibilities and job description for the Paraoptometric position at Lakeview Eye Care?
Our growing family-oriented optometry office and optical boutique in Guntersville is seeking a friendly and outgoing individual to join our team. Our ideal candidate will be someone who is ready to start full time, Monday-Friday. We need someone who is excited to make a career in optometry, enjoys a flexible job with multitasking, and is open to being cross trained with several roles in the office.
Job Duties:
- Provide great customer service
- Greet and welcome patients
- Schedule appointments, answer phones
- Creating invoices, verifying and collecting copays, and checking patients out
- Various clerical and clinical duties, including processing insurance benefits (largely VSP and BCBS), helping explain and collect on patient invoices, maintain inventory of office supplies and patient products, work accounts receivable
- Be currently able to or able to quickly learn cross training in optician duties: assist patients in optical, including frame and lens selection, glasses ordering and dispensing, adjusting glasses, taking precise lens measurements, order management, inventory, and billing
- Be currently able to or able to quickly learn cross training in ophthalmic technical duties: including but not limited to entering acuity, patient history, lensometry, iCare tonometry, evaluation of pupils and eye muscles, OCTs, visual fields, fundus photography.
- Willingness to cross-train in office roles
Qualifications:
- Optical/optometric or medical office experience is preferred but not necessary. Applicants without experience will be considered but must show great potential
- Retail or customer service experience preferred but not required
- Strong organizational abilities
- Eagerness to learn new skills
- Enjoys working with patients of all ages
- Basic knowledge of computer processing
Pay: as we have applicants from a wide array of training and experience, we will customize the job offer based on the applicant's skill assessment.
