Our travel program is branded as Lancaster Elite, and the goal of the Lancaster Elite program is to develop well-balanced, successful individuals who desire to excel by preparing them to compete at progressively higher levels of soccer. Enthusiasm, self-confidence and teamwork are instilled in our young players by hand-picked licensed coaches who love teaching the skills, tactics, and principles of the beautiful game.

Manheim Township Soccer Club (MTSC) is seeking a Director of Coaching (DOC) for our travel and recreational soccer programs, which includes the Lancaster Elite brand. The DOC will lead efforts to achieve growth and development of the student athletes of the club and strive to provide coaches with the necessary tools to develop players. The DOC must have a strong soccer background and technical expertise to lead MTSC coaching staff.

Job Responsibilities:

Recruitment

 Interview All LE Head Coach and Technical Director Candidates for Travel Program

 Hiring and Termination of Coaching Staff per Board Approval

 Oversee execution of Try-outs including schedule, coach requirements, evaluators, format with collaboration from MTSC Director and Technical Directors

 Attend MTSC Rec games throughout the season to identify potential players for Lancaster Elite

Communication/Support

 Maintain positive relationships with the BOD, coaches, team managers, parents, players and community.

 Provide support to Coaches in areas such as: formation of teams, player/parent situations, league/ref issues, tournament/state cup/league/division advice. Be easily accessible.

 Assist with any disciplinary action regarding trainers, coaches, parents and players, reporting all serious matters back to the BOD.

 Conduct coaches meeting 2x per year (1 pre-fall season, 1 pre-spring season), providing content geared toward coaching development

 Clear and Timely Communication with coaches and parents, responding to questions within 48 hours of receipt.

 Provide accountability to Technical Director, Coaches, Goalie Coaches

 Involvement in Lancaster Summer Classic providing support to tournament director as needed/requested

 Attend Board Meetings quarterly to report club progress and opportunities.

 Communicate all pertinent mandates from governing bodies to the board for evaluation. Implement upon approval.

 Provide all website content that pertains to development, coaching, etc. to MTSC Director for publishing.

Budget

 Involvement and collaboration with MTSC Director on determining team tournament budgets

 Involvement and collaboration with MTSC Director and President to determine player registration fees

Development

 Work with Technical Directors to create and communicate LE club methodology to all coaches, ensure it is being implemented through regular attendance of practices and games.

 Develop a player evaluation process for all coaches to implement with their players.

 Develop and improve club coaches. This will build retention among players and coaches and ultimately improve player development.

 Ensure club has goalie coaches lined up for both fall and spring season and secure sessions for all LE goalies

 Organize, manage and oversee additional programs, camps, clinics at the discretion of the BOD

 Work with Technical Directors to develop a schedule that ensures all teams are receiving support at a minimum of 2x per season, ensure the schedule is being executed, focusing on rec teams in early fall to provide coaching content for rec coaches

 Develop and execute coach evaluations once per season

 Provide Coaches Education opportunities

 Support MOJO Training for Rec program through delegation to Tech Directors.

 Partner with Collegiate advisor to ensure all players are given appropriate support.

Stipulations

 Director of Coaching will not be responsible for coaching a team.

 DOC cannot train players in any other soccer organization.

 DOC cannot have a professional affiliation with any other soccer club

 DOC is evaluated annually by Board President, Board VP and MTSC Director.

 DOC is a three year term, with financial increases at the end of the year based on performance.

Qualifications

 Background check required through US Club and US Youth Soccer.

 USSF National “C” coaching license preferred but not a must.

 4 year college degree preferred but not a must.

Experience

 3 years of club management and/or DOC experience

 Youth Coaching – minimum 3 years

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

 Ability to communicate effectively

 Strong leadership qualities

 Self-motivated, hands-on worker

 Ability to multi task, with excellent attention to details, accuracy and meeting deadlines.

Job Type: Contract

Pay: From $20,000.00 per year
