Duties:
- The Screen Press Operator will be responsible for all aspects of printing regarding the Sakuri cylinder screen presses including: review work order to determine job specs, setup jobs by performing various adjustments to ensure registration and resolution, monitor sheets for quality and make necessary adjustments, clean screens with solvent and use wash sheets every time press is re-started to ensure quality.
- Review printing job jacket to determine job specs. Locate ink, screen and stock. Load press with screen and stock. Determine squeegee shore (hardness) required by job (flooding versus fine lines).
- Setup jobs by performing various adjustments.
- Perform various setup duties to ensure registration and resolution: Dry register press by aligning sheet with screen at top dead center of cylinder.
- Adjust front to back and side to side registration.
- Perform fine, localized adjustments of screen (relaxing and stretching).
- Run wash sheets to ensure consistency of image resolution.
- Monitor sheets for quality, making adjustments as necessary.
- Clean screens with solvent and use wash sheets every time press is re-started to ensure quality.
- Perform general housekeeping and routine maintenance of equipment: remove and clean screens, squeegee, flood bar after completing each job.
- Oil press, sharpen squeegee regularly depending upon job (metallics, more frequent).
- Interact with lamination, ink technician, and quality assurance to ensure quality and integrity of inks.
- Provide direction to racker/helper/trainee and manually rack sheets when racker unavailable to ensure proper drying.
- Reconcile count of sheets used.
- Complete various papers/forms as required.
- Identify, evaluate, and initiate corrective action on any aspect of screen printing, seeking assistance and advice as needed.
- Actively pursue cost savings whenever/wherever possible.
- Basic math skills.
- Knowledge of basic hand tools, as well as calipers.
- Basic mechanical aptitude.
- Ability to interpret and work from established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Ability to work and communicate effectively and courteously with coworkers.
- 0-2 years prior Screen-Printing experience.
