The two functions of this role include technical support and research. The successful candidate will provide technical expertise for assigned projects including sales training on product attributes, advising with key accounts, assisting with field demonstrations, and acting as the technical interface between the customer and company. In addition, the successful candidate will conduct health and nutrition research to support the development of new products and programs according to the swine business plans. This position will work closely with Swine Tech Team, Marketing and Sales as well as with other members of the Tech Innovation Team. Specific responsibilities include: Assist with sales training and build the training material Support customer-facing activities at the Purina Animal Nutrition Center and at field events/meetings/conferences by participating and/or speaking at the events Assist with product launches and the development of supporting materials-ensuring articulation of technical attributes Conduct trials at research stations and in partnership with other research institutions Disseminate research findings to internal personnel and provide recommendations based on findings Contribute to the development of new products and services to grow swine business as part of larger technical team Influence and help build product positioning and marketing strategies that generate sales of innovative and technical products Assist with attaining new businesses by providing technical expertise and knowledge during sales calls and visits with customers Address ingredient or product-related issues and opportunities (formulation, ingredient and finished product quality, manufacturing, supply chain, regulatory) Maintain visibility within the industry and academia by participating and speaking at conferences, trade shows, and preparing articles for industry publications when needed Demonstrate excellent collaboration skills and an ability to foster and maintain relationships at all levels of the organization. Requirements PhD in Swine Nutrition, Animal Science, Feed Science or DVM 3 years of experience focused on Swine nutrition, technical service and research. Demonstrated ability to develop and leverage collaborative relationships. Excellent problem-solving skills. Strong communication, planning & organizational skills. Willingness to travel 35 – 50% of the time.
