Operations Manager. Office is open Monday - Friday. Some flexibility in hours, but must hold some consistent office hours. Full-time, 40 hours per week. Starting pay $23.00. Potential increase after three months of service.
Functions: The Operations Manager is responsible for the operations of the church’s office and building needs and acts as liaison with church community and campus partners. This role is growing from a part-time position to full-time with the intention of developing and maintaining churchwide systems that will lead to more efficient and effective operations.

Job Duties and Expectations:
The Operations Manager is supervised by the Pastor, works collaboratively with other staff, and is reviewed annually by the Ministry Support Team.
1. Office Operations
- Reorganize and maintain office files and church documentations, including online
- Develop systems to keep pastor informed about the needs of congregation and community - act as liaison between volunteers, community partners, and wider community and the church
- Serve as the public face of the congregation when answering incoming phone calls and emails.
- Maintain the church calendar and communicate with partners
- Ensure that office equipment is maintained and in workable condition, and stocked with paper, toner, etc.
- Responsible for purchasing and maintaining adequate inventory of office and facilities supplies
2. Foster Hospitality in Community
- Develop and maintain systems that effectively use the Community Life Team structure in place at Land of the Sky UCC
- Collect visitor information following Sunday worship
- Ensure that first-time visitors receive appropriate follow-up
- Gain and share knowledge of community opportunities for service and volunteering
- Coordinate volunteers for Sunday morning and other events
3. Printed Materials
- Create and produce quality materials for distribution, including but not limited to: weekly bulletins, inserts, advertisements
- Make copies, collate, distribute materials as requested to other staff (i.e. pastor, musicians, kids/youth coordinator, leadership team)
- Oversee the preparation or prepare special brochures, booklets, and other presentations
4. Communications/Website
- Develop and maintain systems that facilitate up-to date information on all platforms
- Online communications (i.e. online bulletin, worship announcement slides, etc.)
- Upkeep of online database-Breeze CHMS
- Updating Facebook Pages
- Keeping online Google calendar up-to-date
- Uploading of weekly sermons to Youtube
- Changes to Squarespace Website
5. Support to the Pastor
- Assist with mailings, email blasts, calendar updates, etc.
- Communications with the community for various opportunities and need
6. Operations Management
- Develop and maintain system for space use information distribution, logistics, set up, and create an easily accessible packet of building information
- Assist with scheduling use of building
- Coordination of potential users of space
- Develop and maintain a system that addresses the growing technological needs of the Land of the Sky community and other partners who share this space
- Purchase of building supplies
- Oversight and communication with Building & Grounds Caretaker to address needs of building and upkeep
- Oversight and communication with Building Caretaker to address cleaning and space use needs
- Act as liaison between long-term partners at 15 Overbrook Place (Educational Garden Project, Montessori Learning Community, Circle of Mercy, BeLoved Asheville, etc.) to ensure good communication about the building and all of the partners using the space
7. Basic Financial Work
- Pay bills and write checks as requested
- Enter weekly deposits, make weekly deposits at bank
- Track giving in database
- Communications re: financial commitments
- Payroll/timesheets
- Pay taxes
Minimum Qualifications:
- Ability to handle multiple and varying tasks
- Organized
- Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher).
- Comfortable with technology and PC computer
- Must know basic desktop publishing, bulletin, flyer, and brochure design
- Must know Google Drive, Google Docs, Sheets and Forms
- Flexible and able to work well under pressure
- Basic Quickbooks Online skills, ability to do additional learning and training
- Ability to update squarespace website, willingness to learn
