The Workforce Services Team of the Human Services Division is seeking a compassionate and eager Bilingual Employment Specialist to join our team. In this role you will provide employment and training services to customers enrolled in our Workforce Programs.Responsibilities include: Program Enrollment: enroll customers in federal, state, and local employment programs, ensuring they have access to valuable resources.Job Search Support: assist customers with their job search, providing guidance and resources to help them secure meaningful employment.Resume and Interview Skills: develop and enhance customers’ resume and interview skills to increase their chances of success in the job market.Career Advising: offer personalized career advice based on the local job market’s needs, helping customers make informed decisions about their future.Job Development: collaborate with local employers to create job opportunities for customers, fostering economic growth in our community.Social Services Navigation: provide assistance and referrals for housing and other social services, ensuring our customers’ well-being beyond employment.Travel: Travel within Lane County (occasionally outside of Lane County) to complete scheduled meetings; because of this, a current Oregon Driver’s License is required for this position.Use your language skills and passion for helping others to make a positive impact on individuals in our community, achieve their career goals.About Workforce ServicesWorkforce Services provides Employment & Training Programs for both job seekers and businesses throughout Lane County. Under the direction of Lane Workforce Partnership, WorkSource Lane is dedicated to assisting employers recruit and retain employees, and to help individuals learn new skills, find employment and successfully progress in their careers.About the Division The Human Services Division is dedicated to supporting the diverse communities of Lane County, including veterans, seniors, adults, children, youth, and families, during times of challenge and change in their lives. Our mission is to tackle the underlying causes of poverty, hunger, and homelessness through a comprehensive range of services encompassing prevention, intervention, stabilization, and economic opportunity services.Through collaborative efforts with compassionate local communities, we strive to empower Lane County residents by facilitating access to essential tools and resources they need to break the cycle of poverty and create a brighter, more stable future for themselves. The division plays a vital role in administering funding, coordinating services, and offering assistance across six key program areas. These programs are a blend of contracted services with public and nonprofit organizations, direct support from our dedicated county staff, and active involvement in community initiatives. Our division’s program areas include: Administration: overseeing and managing operations, ensuring smooth functioning and effective coordination.Dovetail Coordinated Care Services: collaboratively coordinating integrated, wraparound services to optimize support for individuals and families.Utility and Rental Assistance: providing crucial support to help individuals maintain housing stability and meet essential needs.Housing, Homelessness and Community Services: addressing homelessness, housing insecurity and community improvements to enhance living conditions and opportunities for our most vulnerable citizens.Veterans Services: tailoring specialized support and resources to assist our Lane County veterans and their families.Workforce Services: providing employment and training programs for both job seekers and businesses throughout Lane County.Through these program areas, the Human Services Division is committed to making Lane County a better place to live, work, and play.*Lane County employees may be eligible for student loan repayment. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Training: Equivalent to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in social services, business, public administration or a related field.Experience: Two years of responsible professional employment training experience.An equivalent combination of experience and training that will demonstrate the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying.Testing RequirementsSuccessful hire will be contingent upon taking a bilingual test to demonstrate proficiency in both English & SpanishDRIVER’S LICENSEMust be in possession of a valid driver's license at time of application, and a valid Oregon Driver's license by time of appointment.Studies have shown that women and BIPOC individuals are less likely to apply for jobs unless they believe they are able to perform every task in the job description.
