    POSITION PURPOSE: This position is responsible for providing equity-based training and technical assistance to school districts facilitating the development, implementation, and maintenance of a regional School Safety and Prevention System (SSPS) resulting in and outcomes that are more equitable for historically and currently underserved students and youth. This positon leads a countywide multi-tiered Behavioral Safety Assessment Team model, coordinating regional teams, and providing training and other supports to teams to ensure effective cross-agency collaboration.

    PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
    • Plan the development of a multidisciplinary model and administrative processes related to the School Safety and Prevention System (SSPS) as outlined in Oregon statue and administrative rule.
      • Engage district and community stakeholders in development of SSPS planning.
      • Develop documentation of team processes and procedures.
      • Collect and analyze implementation data for program improvement purposes.
    • Support implementation of a Regional ESD-based multidisciplinary SSPS model and team.
      • Enhance or establish partnerships among school districts, public mental/behavioral health and service providers, family and social service agencies, and community-based organizations.
      • Provide or coordinate trainings for equity and racial-equity centered, strengths-based, social emotional learning and trauma-informed suicide, bullying, cyberbullying and harassment prevention and student mental health promotion.
      • Convene and lead countywide team meetings.
      • Provide support for district or cross-district teams as requested.
      • Provide regularly scheduled safety assessments.
      • Coordinate resource referrals.
      • Promote use of SafeOregon Tip Line within the region.
      • Serve as liaison and Lane ESD representative with ODE.
    • Assist in expanding regional prevention efforts.
      • Provide or coordinate suicide prevention training.
      • Facilitate collaboration between SSPS and the Tragedy Response Network.
    • Facilitate collaboration with Lane County Public Health (LCPH) related to mental/behavioral health and prevention efforts.
    • Collect and analyze information to assess the effectiveness of regional SSPS.
    • Maintain knowledge and skills on current research, effective practices and trends related to the statewide School Safety and Prevention System.
    • Serve as liaison to ODE and participate in regional, state, community and local meetings related to assignment.
    • Assist SIA Director with related grant budgets, reports and activities, including maintaining knowledge of reporting requirements and deadlines.
    • Work collaboratively with districts and ESD staff to research and pursue grant and other funding opportunities in support of school safety and prevention initiatives in the county.
    QUALIFICATIONS:
    • Bachelors degree in mental or behavioral health, social services, education or related field. Masters Degree preferred.
    • Valid Oregon Teaching license or professional license in field of training.
    • Experience working with students, families, and staff from diverse ethnic, cultural, and socio economic backgrounds required.
    • Minimum three years successful leadership experience at the building or district level, including developing and delivering staff development and training to adult learners.
    • Knowledge of mental and behavioral health practices and systems related to Suicide Pre-, Inter-, and Postvention, Behavioral Safety, and Bullying & Harassment prevention.
    • Knowledge of the principles of Improvement Science and demonstrated ability to collect, analyze and interpret different types of data.
    • Demonstrated ability to facilitate various stakeholder groups, solicit input, synthesize and summarize information.
    • Demonstrated ability to effectively work and communicate with students, parents, and school personnel from diverse cultures or backgrounds.
    • Ability to use technology as a tool in daily work.
    • Ability to work harmoniously with others and to communicate effectively (both orally and in writing)
    • Valid Oregon Driver’s License.

    1. Effectively engage with individuals in a culturally appropriate and responsive manner.
    2. The employee will demonstrate professionalism and appropriate judgment in behavior, speech, and dress in a neat, clean, and appropriate professional manner for the assignment and work setting.
