Lanoha Nurseries is in search of a Retail Greenhouse – Operations Assistant Manager. The Preferred candidate possesses previous work experience in a greenhouse, and education in horticulture, arboriculture, forestry, or a similar field.

Requirements

• Knowledge of annuals, tropicals, house plants, and succulents
• Communicate and work with other associates and customers in a professional and courteous manner
• Creative, energetic, extremely well-organized
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Proficiency in MS Excel and Word a plus
• Able to perform physically demanding activity in an all-season outdoor environment
• Desire to learn and practice new horticultural approaches
• Able to work independently or as part of a team

Responsibilities

• Assists the manager in following market forecasts and trends by supplementing our annual and seasonal plant palette using existing vendors, schedule delivery, receive & display for Garden Center sales.
• Expert plant health diagnosis; including diseases, fungus, insect and other pests and overall plant health
• Participate and lead safe working practices
• Provide superior and professional customer service by creating a friendly and welcoming environment
• Implement procedures to ensure plant health, including watering and fertilizing schedule, and a maintenance plan for managing pests and disease
• Help manage department inventory
• Provide training and orientation to all new department employees
• Work with vendors for delivery schedule, credits, and returns
