What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance Tech position at LAPP?
SUMMARY: Under the general direction of the Maintenance Engineer, this individual is responsible for performing all electrical, mechanical, pneumatics, hydraulic, plumbing and welding repairs on the machinery within the Lapp Cable Works production facility. This includes but is not limited to exposure of PLCs, Drives, hydraulics, electric switches, and extruders.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES – include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
• Responsible for all electrical, mechanical, pneumatics, hydraulic, plumbing and welding repairs on the machinery.
• Troubleshooting of PLC (Allan Bradley / Micro logic / Siemens) and frequency drives (Allan Bradley / Siemens / Control Techniques)
• Perform preventive maintenance activities as per the plan and guidance of the Maintenance Engineer.
• Ensure cleanliness of maintenance work area, personal safety and a safe working environment for all individuals on the shop floor.
• Ensure proper maintenance of the machines for maximum machine availability.
• Responsible for any miscellaneous tasks on the shop floor during the absence of maintenance work or as deemed necessary by the Maintenance Engineer.
• Maintain Daily Log and PM Records up to date.
• Maintain Spare parts stock and inform Maintenance Engineer on consumption.
• Able to work overtime if needed.
• Ability to work in shifts as required.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
• Technical school diploma, and training in Programmable Logic Control with Electro Mechanical background preferred.
• Minimum 2 years of experience within a manufacturing environment and/or cable and wiring industry with experience in a maintenance/technical environment.
• Knowledge on the basics of machine programming is preferred.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical drawings. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. Proficiency in the English language, written and spoken is required.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The employee must be able to tolerate conditions associated with no air conditioning or heat.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
