Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The PIO/TV and Podcast Productions Director will serve as the primary point of contact and spokesperson for the college and will also be  responsible for overseeing all aspects of television studio operations and production at the college.  This includes managing studio facilities, coordinating production schedules, supervising staff and students when applicable, and ensuring the quality and success of all television productions compliment the mission, branding and advancement of the college. 
 
Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities
 
  1. Serve as the primary point of contact and spokesperson for the college.
  2. Point of contact and spokesperson for the college during emergencies or crisis situations providing timely and accurate information for the media, public and college family. This includes handling media inquiries and interview requests.
  3. Manage, safeguard and promote the college’s brand identity, value, messaging consistantly across all communication channels and media coverage.
  4. Cultivate relationships with local, regional and national media outlets that strengthen and expand outreach efforts.
  5. Work closely with the Institutional Advancement division and the office of the President.
  6. Work closely with the Vice President of Compliance and Risk Management to ensure communication plans and safety protocols are disseminated to the media, public and LC family accurately and timely. This includes the office of the President and/or VPIA division.
  7. Work closely with the Community and Media Relations team to develop and distribute press releases, media advisories, and other announcements including press conferences and media events.
  8. Coordinate media events with the Event Services Director in advance.
  9. Oversee the studio production of television programs, podcasts and media platforms.
  10. Develop content and production strategies that promote institutional advancement, programs and outreach to engage diverse audiences in our region and are aligned with the college’s mission, messaging and branding.
  11. Manage and supervise the department team and manage the day-to-day operations of the television studio, production facilities and equipment.
  12. Develop the strategic direction of the television and studio production department which include social media campaigns that promote television programs, podcasts and studio productions.
  13. Oversee technical aspects of the studio production and facilities including lighting, sound, equipment, and the studio.
  14. Collaborate with community partners to amplify messaging, reach new audiences and solicit feedback to create content.
  15. Manage script development, casting, directing talent and the coordination of pod-production activities.
  16. Coordinate studio bookings and production schedules in a timely manner including delivery of content.
  17. Develop and manage budget for department.
  18. Develop, supervise and mentor college students interested in learning about television, podcasts and/or studio production career pathways.
  19. Ensure that communication, live or otherwise, is accurate and presented in a professional manner at all times.
  20. Ensure television, podcasts and studio productions are in compliance with all relevant regulations/guidelines of the college.
  21. Collaborate with all departments and external partners to promote and support studio production initiatives that support the goals and mission of the College.
  22. Perform other duties as assigned by VP of Institutional Advancement and/or the President.

Required:
  • Bachelor’s degree in film, television production, communications, media production or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in communications, media production, or public relations.
  • Candidates must have a solid understanding of industry practices, technical skills, and communication strategies, gained through previous employment and/or freelance work. 
  • Must have some supervisor experience.

Preferred:
  • Master’s degree in film, television production, communications, media production or related field.
  • Experience working in a community college or educational setting.    
  • Able to demonstrate relevant skills, achievement and accomplishments in successful media productions, effective media relations campaigns or contributions to organizational communication strategies.  
  • A supervisory role, project management experience and leadership/participation in professional industry events/organizations, and active engagement with relevant networks  

  • Strong Organizational and multitasking skills.  
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities. 
  • Proficiency with television production equipment and software.  
  • Remain up to date on industry trends and best practices through continuous learning and professional development  in studio productions and related topics that impact institutional advancement . 
  • May be required to work after hours, weekends and/or some holidays at the request of the VPIA and/or President.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit.  
The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, or crouch.
