While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit.
The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, or crouch.
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move items weighing up to 50 pounds.

The role of the Workforce Navigation Specialist is to provide access to employment and training services, increase employment opportunities for college students, and develop support services for students who are in the early phases of preparing for transition from career pathway programs to employment. This position is grant funded.
Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive services and information resources that enable students to take active responsibility for their college and career decisions and job searches.
- Develop college and career services and counseling approaches for changing student populations including minority students, non-traditional students, English language learners, and returning students.
- Disseminates information regarding career services aligned to career paths and Career & Technical Education programs, initiate career assessments, and provide career development plans and exploration sessions.
- Conduct follow-up with graduates to provide coaching and guidance that will help the graduate keep and maintain employment by addressing needs, soft skills, job search and upskill opportunities.
- Follow-up with students to document tracking of job placement, job retention, occupational skills attainment and certifications, and track the participant’s use and success of referrals and services.
- Assist in workforce development center Job Fairs, student workshops, assess effectiveness, and assist with implementation of changes when needed.
- Coordinates and schedule student appointments and classroom presentations.
- Assist with career and employment tracking data by preparing and assisting with reports requested by the Workforce Development Center Director.
- Collects, organizes, and files a variety of student, employment and office records, both electronic and paper; maintains confidentiality.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Workforce Development Center Director, Dean of Community Education, Provost/VP of Academic Affairs, or President.

Required:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Sociology, Psychology, or in a closely related area.
- Two years offering support and/or advising services to clients, employers, or students.
Preferred:
- Experience in Higher Education or Career Services.
- Experience in the use of personal computer and various software programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point, Adobe Acrobat and other educational platforms.
- Must have effective organizational, planning, written and oral communication in English and Spanish.
- Maintain positive and effective relationships with supervisors and must possess interpersonal skills.
- Must be able to exhibit analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to follow through on details.
- Ability to multi-task in a dynamic and fast paced environment is preferred.
- Able to travel between Ft. McIntosh and South Campus.
