Reports To: Dealer Principle


Summary: Reports the financial condition of the total dealerships to the owner regularly and accurately. Provides sales and expense analyses summarizing potential problem areas and opportunities for improved profitability relative to monthly and annual forecasts.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities


  1. Oversees the completion of the month’s financial statement according to dealership guideline and within each manufacturer’s format and time frame.
  2. Interprets the financial statement and the daily operating control (DOC) regularly and informs dealer of developing trends.
  3. Participates in the preparation of short and long term financial forecasts for the dealership.
  4. Provides department managers with detailed financial and management reports.
  5. Maintains an effective cash management system that forecasts cash funds and makes recommendations for the profitable use of excess cash.
  6. Directs assessment of depreciation rates to apply to capital assets.
  7. Reviews the general ledger and scheduled accounts. Notes any unusual entries and investigates.
  8. Reviews the reconciliation of general ledger accounts with outside sources to ensure proper bank reconciliation, reserve accounts, factory payable, and floor plan payable.
  9. Stays abreast of tax code revisions and advises dealer regarding any operational adjustments needed to accommodate revisions.
  10. Ensure compliance with all applicable government finance regulations, including filing and/or maintaining of required forms, payroll taxes and deposits, income taxes, retirement plan records, etc.
  11. Manages the dealership computer system to maximize utilization. Coordinates with outside computer companies on computer performance.
  12. Administers a loss review program and maintains loss reserves for contingent liabilities and trade receivables.
  13. Meets with dealer to evaluate all insurance renewals.
  14. Coordinates annual audit (or review) and physical inventory.
  15. Automates all possible systems and establishes controls.
  16. Controls petty cash amounts for the dealership and sales department.
  17. Ensures all manufacturer accounts including warranty claims, rebates, interest, protection, and co-op advertising accounts are current and accurate.
  18. Controls keys to building and maintains log of keys issued to employees.
  19. Oversees and directs treasury, budgeting, audit, tax, accounting, purchasing, real estate, and insurance activities for the dealership.
  20. Works closely with the dealer on long-range planning, cash management, and funds allocation.
  21. Maintains relationships with financial institution on matters of lines of credit and funds management
  22. Directs and analyzes studies of general economic, business, and financial conditions and their impact on the dealership polices and operations.
  23. Directs the office managers in providing and managing the procedures and systems necessary to maintain proper records and to afford adequate accounting controls and services.
  24. Oversees and directs the preparation and issuance of the dealership’s annual report.
  25. Appraises the dealership’s financial position and issues periodic financial and operating reports.
  26. Maintains a close working relationship with accountants to ensure adherence to General Acceptable Accounting Principles (GAAP) and maintenance of a dealership financial structure designed to minimize tax liabilities.
  27. Maintains a close working relationship with legal counsel to ensure that all dealership financial activities are properly conducted, documented and reported.
  28. Represents the dealer as personal agent within the dealership and at functions outside the dealership.
  29. Operates and maintains office machines such as computer, calculator, fax machine, and copier.
  30. Opens and routes incoming mail, answers correspondence, and prepares outgoing mail.
  31. Prioritizes and performs multiple tasks simultaneously in order to meet and exceed deadlines and expectations.
  32. Communicates clearly both verbally and non-verbally. Submits concise, complete, and clear legible records for both dealership and customer use.
  33. Maintains assigned work area and break room in an organized and clean manner. Exhibiting pride in the work area and dealership.
  34. Maintains personal cleanliness, grooming and uniform standards according to dealership guidelines.
  35. Displays high standard of ethical conduct. Refrains from unethical, dishonest and theft related behavior. Exhibits integrity, adhering to all company policies, including our commitment to ZERO TOLERANCE of discrimination and work place violence.
  36. Aligns behavior with the needs, priorities and goals of the organization. Fosters commitment, pride, trust and team spirit.
  37. Utilizes supplies and materials in a practical, economical manner. Handles all toxic chemicals and hazardous waste according to the dealerships current policies and procedures.
  38. Reports to management any situation or condition that jeopardizes the safety, welfare, or integrity of the dealership, its employees or customers.
  39. Communicates everyday, with direct supervisor if it is necessary to be late or absent.
  40. Other job duties as required.


Supervisory responsibilities

Manages two subordinate supervisors who supervise 10-15 employees and one non-supervisory employee in the Corporate Office. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of this department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibly include interviewing, hiring, and training employees, planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.


Larson Automotive Benefits:


Larson Automotive Group offers a comprehensive group medical insurance plan to all hired full-time applicants that start the first of the month following the completion of continuous 60 of employment. We offer 4 plans to help employees access the best plan that fits their budget and needs. One plan is zero cost to the employee. We also have a company paid Life ($10,000) and AD&D plan ($40,000.00) that is for all benefit eligible employees. Employee must maintain no less than 32 hours per week to be considered ‘full-time’ for benefits. 


In addition to medical insurance, Larson Automotive Group also offers vision, dental and various other ancillary coverages such as additional Life, AD&D, LTD, STD, Accident, Hospital, and Pet insurance to name a few.


Larson Automotive Group also provides an Employee Assistance Program. This is a specialized referral program available to employees to assist in various personal situations. This includes counseling for substance abuse, financial difficulties, mental illness, family issues and more. These are all provided to the employee free of charge and confidential with a third party. 


Larson Automotive Group also helps plan for your future with our retirement plan available to all employees over the age of 21. The 401k plan starts after the completion of 2 months of employment, the employee will be automatically enrolled into the program starting at a 3% deduction and this will increase 1% per year for the first 3 years. The company does match 50% of the first 4% contributed by the employee.  Employees on a budget or who want to know exactly what will be coming out of their check can also opt to have a flat dollar amount withheld from their check. We also offer a ROTH plan option as well. Employees can opt out of the plans at any time.


We offer a KOFE (knowledge of Financial Education) plan free of charge to the employee to help provide the employees with the tools needed for financial wellness.


Hourly and Salary employees will receive 6 paid holidays each year.


We offer a competitive PTO (Paid Time Off) program; employees begin to accrue hours from day one worked (eligible to use after 90 days of employment). PTO is accrued for the first 2 years at 1 hour for every 40 hours worked at 3 to 10 years 1.53 hours of PTO for every 40 hours worked and at 10 years 2.30 hours of PTO for every 40 hours worked.

Educations and/or Experience

Two to four years experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.


Language Skills

Ability to read, analyzed, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Have the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers or the general public.


Mathematical Skills

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Has the ability to apply concepts or basic algebra and geometry.


Reasoning Ability

Maintains the ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems. Show ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, musical notes, etc.) in its most difficult phase. Possesses the ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.

Salary : $120,000 - $170,000
