Yard Marshall

LaserShip is looking for a Yard Marshall to support their Sort Center in Lebanon, TN.

Schedule:  Wednesday-Saturday 2pm -12am

Position Summary:

Coordinate and track the movement of trailers in and out of the yard. Manages Hostlers and works with incoming drivers directing traffic to ensure smooth traffic flow in the yard. Matches, verifies seal numbers to documentation (bill of ladings).  Manages and directs gate check-in and check-out associates to ensure yard trailer movements are properly tracked and recorded.  Manages and directs trailer dock release associates to ensure trailers are secured at doors to prevent from being pulled prematurely.  Most of the shift will be spent outside, managing activities in the warehouse yard 

Supervisor level, reporting to Ops Manager 

Roles & Responsibilities:  

• Checking in Vendors/Drivers when they arrive on the yard and tracking trailer location using software 

• Safety, training other employees on yard safety, protocols and ensuring continuous compliance  

• Recording Vendor info, Trailer info, Account name(s), Trailer percentage, etc. 

• Coordinating trailer switch moves with Management and the hostlers in the unload area. 

• Coordinating switch moves and converter gear placement with Management and the Yard Switchers on the load side. 

• (Yard Check) Perform a thorough yard check to ensure all ‘due’ freight is unloaded on the proper sort. 

• Working with Management and the Hostlers to ensure proper dock set up between sorts – lineup 

Physical Demands:   

• The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, bend, climb, push, pull, twist or crouch. 

• The physical activity associated with this position is considered high. The employee will regularly lift, push, pull and/or move items averaging 50 pounds. 

• The employee will be standing for a majority of their shift  

Training & Experience Needed: 

• Must be proficient in workplace English, spoken Spanish skills preferred   

• Bilingual not required, but optional  

• Communication directly with: Drivers, Supervisors, Management, Yard Hostlers  

• Must have 1-2-year experience with general warehouse operation, experience with swisher trucks, forklift, yard warehouse management, preferred but not required 

• Some previous leadership or training experience
