Lasko Products has an excellent career opportunity for a skilled machinist/tool maker. Prior experience working with plastic injection molds a plus! You will work in an organized, well-equipped (manual mills, saws and lathes, wire EDM, CNCs, welding, sheet metal, etc.), shop with a team of professional and skilled machinists/engineers producing a wide range of components and tooling.
Responsible for operating machine tools to produce precision metal parts for metal stamping, roll forming, and injection molding. Ensure products meet precise specifications.
Responsibilities:
Sets up and operates conventional and computerized numerical control (CNC) machines and machining centers to fabricate parts, applying knowledge of machine shop theory and procedures, shop mathematics, machinability of materials and layout techniques.
Studies sketches, drawings, specifications or sample part to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished tools and dies, sequence of operations and setup requirements.
Selects, aligns and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories and materials on machines, such as mills, lathes and grinders.
Calculates and sets controls to regulate machining factors, such as speed, feed, coolant flow
Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, and adjusts machine controls or control media as required.
Verifies conformance of finished parts to specifications, using precision measuring instruments.
Sets up and operates machine on trial run to verify accuracy of machine settings or programmed control data.
Fits and assembles parts into complete assembly, using jigs, fixtures, surface plate, surface table, hand tools and power tools.
Verifies dimensions and alignment of assembly, using measuring instruments, such as micrometers, height gauges and gauge blocks.
May operate welding equipment to cut or weld parts.
Confers with engineers, production personnel, programmers or others to resolve machining or assembly problems.
Qualifications:
Minimum of 5 years as a machinist
Willing to work within a team to meet production needs in the machine shop and other related areas
Ability to set-up and operate conventional machines (lathes, knee mills, saws, grinders, etc.)
Ability to make parts from sketches and blueprints, create setups and run parts without assistance
Excellent math skills required
Knowledge of machine shop theory and procedures, and a general knowledge of materials and tooling as they relate to machining are required
Must have the ability to inspect all parts that they produce to meet print specifications
Ability to run production of all shop parts
Will need to learn specialized equipment used in manufacturing plastic injection molds and other special processed parts
Ability to run and program CNC equipment such as CNC mills and CNC lathes is a plus but not a required
