Coordinate and plan overall assembly production operations. Ensure that productivity, quality and safety goals are met or exceeded.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
What are the most important duties and responsibilities of this position? List the primary duties in order of importance without excess detail.
- Operates the shop floor as directed by company objectives and goals with guidance from Plant Manager.
- Directs the manufacture of quality products to meet customer specifications in accordance with production schedules, customer schedules, routings and bills of material.
- Assists with the administration of the Safety program with respect to employees.
- Assists with administration of company policies, procedures and establishes employee relations. Consults on new hires, dismissals, and instructs, trains, and consults with Human Resource Manager on discipline of departmental employees. Promotes a positive working environment within the department.
- Maintains the department within the labor, controllable costs and capital budget.
- Recommends methods and process changes to improve production and lower costs. Directs employees, with guidance from Plant Manager, to meet performance standards & efficiencies.
- Directs the proper use, care, maintenance and appearance of all physical assets and production equipment in the department, including housekeeping.
- Coordinates the flow of production between shifts, communicating all pertinent information on production activities and problems to other shifts.
- Maintains a high degree of housekeeping in department.
- Participates in training programs within the company and those sponsored outside the company which will provide self-improvement.
- Keeps abreast of technical changes through trade journals, associated articles, periodicals and participates in such trade associations as are necessary to accomplish duties.
Education
- High School degree required, Associates Degree preferred.
Experience
- 3-5 years of relevant experience in a manufacturing environment
