About the Role

The Business Development Manager – Corporate is an integral part of Latham’s Business Development team. This role will be responsible for supporting the market’s growth strategy and commitment to client service, while developing a comprehensive understanding of the lawyers and clients in New York in order to drive strategic priorities, including client engagement and relationship building. This role will be located in our New York office.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

Other key responsibilities include:

• Developing a comprehensive understanding of the lawyers and clients in New York in order to drive strategic priorities, including client engagement and relationship building
• Providing research, analysis, and reporting to support the identification and development of new clients and the enhancement of existing client relationships
• Playing an active role in the integration of lateral partners and the development of junior partners
• Leveraging and promoting the Firm’s alumni network to drive revenue
• Developing and driving strategies and programming for the Firm’s Women Enriching Business program
• Supporting the implementation of business development tactics and initiatives in alignment with the strategic objectives of practices, markets, relevant industry sectors, and/or clients as assigned
• Aiding in the execution of cross-selling strategies, including collaborating with relevant BD teams
• Coordinating the research of markets, competition, and client targets conflicts for the department and practice groups to drive strategy
• Collaborating with lawyers, BD and Brand & Communications teams on speaking opportunities, seminars and sponsorships, webinars, and other visibility initiatives
• Developing internal communications to inform relevant practice and industry groups of significant achievements, developments, and market synergies
• Assisting with the creation and maintenance of written marketing materials and website content, including practice profiles and relevant experience lists
• Assisting with the project management and draft submissions for legal directories and related industry guides

We’d love to hear from you if you:

• Exhibit the ability to execute multiple work streams and manage priorities effectively
• Possess superior oral and written communication skills
• Demonstrate strong PowerPoint, Excel, and Microsoft Office skills

And have:

• A Bachelor’s degree
• A minimum of seven (7) years of business development experience
• Previous legal industry experience
• Knowledge of M&A, Private Equity, and/or Capital Markets
