Applying engineering techniques, assists in the improvement of manufacturing processes and products and in the transition of new products and processes from R&D to production. Recommend manufacturing equipment and processes designed to be efficient, cost-effective, and to promote quality and reliability. Assess current equipment and processes and makes recommendations for changes. Troubleshoot and repair equipment. Shows results in reports. Train personnel in equipment usage and processes. Performs work with a high degree of latitude. May act as a 'lead' or first level supervisor.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESAdditional duties and responsibilities may be assigned, as necessary.
1. Assist in ensuring all production processes are following all applicable company EHS Policies and Programs.
2. Plan, develop and implement process changes that yield improved Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE); production efficiencies, yields and rates.
3. Lead the transition and commercialization of new products and processes from R&D to production.
4. Plant Support:
- Analyze product/process data identifying opportunities for improvement and cost reduction.
- Lead/Assist in implementing process improvement initiatives which reduce waste and non-value-added activities.
- Provide technical support on any production/product/quality issues as required.
- Evaluate equipment and process capabilities and make recommendations on equipment design and selection.
- Lead/direct the installation and start-up of new processes and equipment.
- Develop work instructions and provide training for operators on new and improved equipment and processes.
5. Utilize continuous improvement methodologies including but not limited to Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing techniques.
6. Analyze the production requirements of products and ensure JDE1 data are correct.
7. Develop Design of Experiments for Pilot Plant Scale-Up and Production Scale-Up.
8. Supports Cap Ex Projects as assigned.
9. Handles the most complex issues and problems and refers only the most difficult and complex issues to higher-level staff.
REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university
Specialized Skills and Experience:
- Minimum of 6 years' experience in a process manufacturing environment
- Intermediate technical expertise
- Analytical thinking skills
- Problem solving skills
- Excellent communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills.
- Highly organized in scheduling, executing responsibilities and prioritizing in a multitask environment.
- Self-starter, able to work alone with limited supervision.
- Team player - maintain a positive, cooperative attitude with all employees of LATICRETE and all customers.
- Leadership skills
- Computer skills: Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Outlook. Mini-Tab or other similar software
Travel Requirement:
- Up to 50% (domestic and international)
- Must have or be able to obtain a passport.
Physical Requirements:
- Lift: Must be able to lift and/or carry a minimum of 65 pounds.
- Push/Pull: Must be able to push/pull 65 pounds.
- Standing: Must be able to stand at least 6 hours of the day.
