Controls Engineer

Job Description: Control Engineer with PLC Experience

Type: Full-Time, Direct Hire (50% Travel involved)

Position Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Control Engineer with extensive experience in Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) to join our dynamic engineering team working on material handling equipment. The Control Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining control systems to optimize the performance, efficiency, and safety of our industrial processes and automation systems.

Responsibilities:

1. PLC Programming: Develop, modify, and troubleshoot PLC programs using industry-standard programming languages (e.g., ladder logic, structured text, function block diagrams) to control various machinery and equipment.

2. System Design: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including electrical engineers, mechanical engineers, and automation specialists, to design and integrate control systems that meet project requirements and industry standards.

3. HMI Development: Design intuitive and user-friendly Human-Machine Interfaces (HMIs) to enable operators to monitor and interact with the control systems effectively.

4. Control System Configuration: Configure and fine-tune control parameters to optimize system performance, ensure stability, and maintain the desired output quality.

5. System Integration: Integrate PLCs with other industrial automation components, such as sensors, actuators, variable frequency drives (VFDs), and SCADA systems.

6. Testing and Debugging: Conduct thorough testing and debugging of control systems to identify and rectify potential issues, ensuring the reliable and safe operation of equipment.

7. Troubleshooting: Provide prompt technical support to operations and maintenance teams in diagnosing and resolving control system malfunctions and emergencies.

8. Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation, including functional specifications, wiring diagrams, and user manuals, to facilitate system understanding and future modifications.

9. Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process optimization and efficiency enhancements, proposing and implementing improvements to boost productivity and reduce downtime.

10. Compliance and Safety: Ensure that all control systems comply with relevant regulatory standards and safety guidelines to safeguard personnel, equipment, and the environment.

11. Training: Provide training and technical guidance to operators and maintenance personnel on the proper use and maintenance of control systems.

12. Stay Current with Technology: Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in PLC technology, automation, and industrial control systems to drive innovation and best practices within the organization.
