Responsibilities
- Conducts research on specified environmental resources such as wetlands, forests, streams, soils, flora, and fauna
- Gathers data and samples during field investigations
- Supervises, evaluates, and manages data collected from field investigations to determine the status, size, condition, and effects on specified environmental resources
- Documents methodologies and outcomes of research and field investigations
- Leads the creation, management, and presentation of technical reports on natural environments, field delineation reports, impact assessments, environmental inspection reports, and similar documents
- Guides and oversees the process of applying for various state, federal, and local regulatory permits, including Section 404/401, Endangered Species Act Section 7 & 10 Consultation, NPDES, etc
- Supervises Environmental Scientists in their field investigations and assessments, NEPA documentation development, and permit application preparation
- Monitors project schedules, budgets, and staffing requirements
- Recruits, trains, nurtures, mentors, and evaluates staff performance
- Directs the preparation of project scopes, fee proposals, and responses to RFPs, including team collaborations and participation in project/contract interviews
- Contributes to strategic planning and Business Development efforts, including spearheading initiatives
- Supports the creation of NEPA documents, including drafting environmental setting and impact analyses sections
- Bachelor’s degree in natural resource management, environmental or natural science, biology, planning, ecology, or a related field, with 7 years of experience in the essential functions and responsibilities outlined above
- Advanced training in wetland delineation and/or hydric soils
- Expertise in USACE regulatory permitting under CWA Section 404 and/or RHA Section 10
- Experience in preparing biological consultation documents for ESA Section 7 and/or 10, including Biological Assessments and Biological Evaluations, and obtaining concurrence from USFWS
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, with familiarity in AutoCAD and/or Microstation, ArcMap, and/or other GIS programs
