ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY:
We, Laudisi Enterprises, the parent company of Smokingpipes.com, Laudisi Distribution Group, Cornell & Diehl, Peterson of Dublin and Low Country Pipe & Cigar, are looking for an odd-jobber, jack of all trades, general maintenance virtuoso to assist our very busy General Maintenance Specialist.
As an integral member of our Administration Team, the Maintenance Technician will be dedicated to keeping our facilities clean, safe, and enjoyable. In this role, the Maintenance Technician will work at all three of our locations in Horry County, performing duties indoors and outdoors, depending on what needs fixing and where. Many tasks will require a self-managed and independent approach to problem solving while some others will call for collaboration and solid teamwork.
In reality, our Maintenance Technician can be anywhere, doing anything from changing air filters to building a fireplace out of pallets for our company's Holiday Party. This is a job for someone who likes to stay busy, thrives on their feet, and is always looking for ways to improve our facilities.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform general building maintenance with care
Conduct regular lawn care on property grounds
Perform basic plumbing maintenance and repair
Capable of basic electrical support
Conduct basic HVAC support
Perform basic roof maintenance
Complete light motor repair as needed
Perform regular painting duties
Basic equipment, building, office-infrastructure installation and/or assembly
REQUIRED SKILLS:
Experience in two or more maintenance or craft occupations keeping machines, mechanical equipment, or the structure of a building in repair.
Previous duties such as pipe fitting; HVAC maintenance; insulating; welding; machining; carpentry; repairing electrical or mechanical equipment; installing, aligning, and balancing new equipment; and repairing buildings, floors, or stairs.
Independent thinking and the ability to anticipate and repair problems before they become problems.
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:
Maintain a positive attitude
Be punctual and reliable
Attendance on-site
Work autonomously while also building strong working relationships with management and team members
The ability to lift 50lb
Possess a valid Driver’s License
Possess a clean driving record
Pass a clean criminal background check
BONUS SKILLS:
The perfect candidate is someone who is always fixing stuff around the house, someone who thrives on finding clever and thrifty solutions to keep everything running top notch. Perhaps you have experience working with Santee Cooper or HTC, or maybe you’ve converted your porch into a sunroom because you have a shed full of tools that always need something to do. The staff at the hardware store knows you by name; your neighbors are always asking for help with projects because you’re good at them; you like to keep busy, like working with your hands, and a day filled with a variety of odd jobs is a day that you look forward to.
If you share our core values—Passion, Intrepidity, Creativity, Idealism, Wisdom—apply today!
Look, we’re super passionate about the things we do—for many of us that includes the things we buy, make, and sell: chiefly pipes, pipe tobacco, and cigars. Lots of us smoke tobacco at Laudisi and there will be times when you have to work in smoking areas. Please consider whether you are comfortable working around smoke and tobacco before applying for this position.
Applicants being considered must pass a criminal background check. Our hiring and employment practices are based solely on job related criteria, and we do not discriminate on the basis of any characteristic protected by law.
