Piano/Voice Teacher

We have a warm community of budding musicians and seek a dedicated Piano, Voice, Guitar or Drum Teacher.

Tuesday-Thursday Piano/Voice 2:30pm-6:00pm- Rosedale Queens

Saturday Group Guitar, Chorus- Rosedale Queens

The instructor will be responsible for preparing and implementing a music plan according to each student's level. Our teachers at LJMS help develop our students' musicianship and performance skills. Teachers are expected to know how to organize a lesson/class and make learning an easy and meaningful process. The ideal candidate will be passionate for music and music education with an ability to reach out to students

Responsibilities

• Teach private or group lessons as well as some music theory
• Provide individualized instruction to each student (ages 5 to adults) by promoting interactive learning and having the flexibility to teach different genres and styles of music
• Piano teachers should be able to teach NYSSMA and ABRSM level pieces, theory, sight reading and ear training.
• Create and distribute educational content (sheet music, lesson notes, assignments etc.)
• Plan and prepare students for recitals and any additional shows
• Assess and record students’ progress and provide feedback to families
• Collaborate with other instructors and faculty and participate in meetings when able
• Teacher must be on time for all classes
• Teacher must have access to transportation to teach in either Baldwin or Queens
• Driving a plus

Skills

• Proven experience as a strong music instructor
• Years of experience as a musician and teacher
• Thorough knowledge of teaching best practices and a willingness to follow the school’s policies and procedures
• Excellent communicability and interpersonal skills
• Well-organized and committed
• Creative and energetic
• Strong moral values and discipline

Job Types: Part-time, Contract

Pay: $22.00 - $24.00 per hour
