Bilingual Community Engagement Specialist (English + Spanish)

We are seeking a passionate and driven individual to join our team as a Community Engagement Specialist with expertise in opioid use. This role involves working closely with community members, stakeholders, and organizations to develop and implement strategies aimed at addressing opioid use, raising awareness, and providing support to affected individuals and their families. This opportunity is contract based up to 6 months.

Duties/Responsibilities:

1. Community Outreach: Develop and maintain relationships with community members, organizations, and stakeholders to raise awareness about opioid use issues, resources, and support services available.

2. Resource Development: Identify and compile resources, including treatment facilities, support groups, and harm reduction services, to provide comprehensive support to individuals struggling with opioid use.

3. Advocacy: Advocate community initiatives aimed at addressing the root causes of opioid addiction, reducing stigma, and improving access to treatment and recovery services.

4. Community Events: Plan and coordinate community events, forums, and support groups to provide platforms for individuals affected by opioid use to share their experiences, receive support, and access resources.

5. Collaboration: Work with local organizations, healthcare providers, law enforcement agencies, and government entities to coordinate efforts and maximize impact in addressing opioid use within the community.

Education & Experience:

• Associate's degree or equivalent, with at least 3 years of professional experience.
• Understanding of opioid use disorder, addiction, harm reduction principles, and evidence-based treatment approaches.
• Experience working in community outreach, engagement, or advocacy.
• Knowledge of local resources, services, and systems related to opioid addiction treatment and recovery.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
• Sensitivity to the needs of diverse populations and a commitment to promoting equity and inclusion.
• Other duties as assigned

By fulfilling these tasks and responsibilities, you'll play a vital role in supporting individuals and communities affected by the opioid crisis, fostering collaboration among stakeholders, and advancing prevention and intervention efforts.

This position may require occasional evening and weekend hours to accommodate community events and outreach activities. A valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation are preferred.

Physical Requirements:

• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• You will be required to walk distances up to 3 miles; lightweight clothing and comfortable shoes are recommended.
• Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

Job Types: Full-time, Contract

Pay: $22.00 - $24.00 per hour

• 8 hour shift
• Monday to Friday
• Weekends as needed
