Pay Range
$5,380.00 - $7,372.00 Monthly
Please note that the pay range information is a general guideline only. Many factors are taken into consideration when setting starting pay including education, experience, the external labor market, and internal equity.
Job Description
We have an opening for an Academic Graduate Appointee to support our work on nuclear nonproliferation and nuclear security issues, with emphasis on international nuclear security. As an integral member of an interdisciplinary team, you will support the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) and other sponsors by developing and executing communications strategies for implementing nonproliferation initiatives to strengthen nuclear security capacity worldwide. You may also organize and participate in international security training and outreach activities with international partners. This position is in the Global Materials Security group of the Global Security Principal Directorate's Nuclear Threat Reduction (N) Program.
- Develop communications strategies and products as well as maintain keen awareness of current events and key developments relevant to the program's areas of responsibility.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of international policy and recommendations documents and initiatives to strengthen nuclear security/radiological capacity worldwide, including human resource development, technology and international engagement.
- Participate in the development of communications materials for technical exchanges, workshops, and training courses with foreign partners to strengthen their knowledge and expertise in nuclear/radiological security.
- Represent the organization internally and externally as an communications contact on projects in one or more assigned areas within nonproliferation and international nuclear/radiological security.
- Maintain required security in classified environments.
- Perform International and domestic travel.
- Maintain and ensure quality standards for deliverables.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Master's degree in physical science, engineering, international relations, political science, or other relevant field, or law degree, or the equivalent combination of education and related experience and demonstrated ability to perform independent work.
- Knowledge of the policy context of general security and international issues.
- Training and/or research experience in a field relevant to information analysis with an emphasis on international security issues or WMD proliferation.
- Experience producing finished work products based on all available sources of information and under minimal direction.
- Experience preparing comprehensive high-quality written reports and making formal presentations.
- Proficient verbal and written communication skills necessary to effectively collaborate in a team environment, give presentations, and advise management as well as external sponsors and customers.
